Surprised no one has mentioned the ending - everyone is concerned about the narrator. He does a damn good job at the end too.

Ok, here's what happened to the old narrator:

This is the last time I'm explaining this so let it be the be all end all. Additionally, I am the one with the most information about the entire context therefore I have the most credibility in making the best decisions. I also I already seem too unprofessional discussing personal details publicly like this. Why am I sharing these things? Is it really your right to know?

Basically, he'd rewrite things that were not necessary.

He'd say there were countless grammatical errors when there were only a few or none. He'd also say
to use spellcheck, apparently grammarly did not catch certain scientific words a few times.

Then spend too much time on more tasks that were not important like pronunciations. Just use translate.google.com and the listen button, you don't have to look up the latin roots of the last name of the woman from poland to get them just right.

Then, he would fact check things (remember he was not the writer). So, I'd fact check them too, 95% of the time, he was wrong about his contingencies or didn't understand why we were writing a certain way. One time, I simply said, Ok, provide me a citation with your statement and we will change the script. He did not produce one as he said they were "boring."

Here's a good example of how he'd change things.

At one point in a script we say "....a load of B-U-L-L-S-H-I-T?" <-- original

He wanted to change it to this based upon the logic in parenthesis...this is QUOTED....and yes I did not make a typo when I quote his numbers of 7 or 3.

"a load of B-U-double-L? (Bullshit is 7 letters so spelling it out as a juxtaposition to a 3 letter word doesn't work, but Bull does)"

He insisted on changing it to B-U-double-L...because...as you can see the logic.

The biggest things were he'd go too deep into things to "fix" that didn't matter or were moot, then I'd tell him to change them back as they were written that way for a reason, were wrong how he corrected them, sounded awkward, something else, or I didn't want to reinforce him to do things other than his job.

THEN he'd say it took him the entire day or like 5 hours to do all these things including the aforementioned "fact-checking" (the facts were 95% of the time accurate already).

The guy sadly, stressed himself out when all he needed to do was his job, and repeatedly bled this stress onto me and then onto my team through me. I couldn't be a wall anymore.

The predominate reason was because he was interrupting the system. Instead of making the channel better, I had to keep focusing on this little part, him, to keep it OK. It's like trying to drive a car when one of your tires keeps going flat, but you refuse to actually change it...instead you keep pumping it up again. Is that logical?

This new guy sounds like something I'd hear in a National Geographic documentary

This is a public comment from the previous narrator Jody Baxmeyer:

First thank you all and Strange Mysteries for my time here.

Second: Nathan is 100 percent correct! I was very frequently a cause for script fixes and change requests.

I wish nothing but the best for Strange Mysteries moving forward and seriously think this new voice should be doing movie stuff!!! Wow! Great read!

Technically most schools of philosophy from Plato onwards are to quite an extent more about working out how to get to an answer more than getting the answer itself. Take Plato's cave, it is more a question of is the data we are seeing the real data on which we base assumptions that we answer questions with, than getting an answer to a specific question. Hegel had a different approach with differentiation and then integration, and Barthes demonstrated (as have others in different fields) that our cultural norms (which he called semiotic myths) significantly affect cognition in general. Once you start digging into it you really start wondering "just how deep does this damn rabbit hole go?".

life is forever changing, like this new narrator. I still want the old one back but as long as the content stays the same and interesting it will be okay :)

I want to like this dude, but it just feels sooo wrong. He seems so serious, whereas the other guy was more loose and sarcastic. I come here to laugh and constantly question my own existance
