The language is Gaul and im glad you can apreciate my ancient culture and help spread it.

Music resonates among all of us and im glad you enjoyed ours and promoted it.

that language at the end was probably Gaulish. It was spoken by the people that lived in Western Europe a very long time ago. It's a dead language, but if I remember correctly Eluveitie works with some language experts to preserve what we do have of it.

Great reaction :-) The band is pronounced "El-vey-tee", they are a Swiss folk metal band and definitely unique. Their songs are often based on Celtic mythology and they also sing in Gaulish, an ancient Celtic language. This one is with their former singer Anna Murphy. If you want to see some badass new stuff with the violin, flutes, a hurdy-gurdy and the new singer Fabienne Erni check out "Rebirth" and "Ategnatos".

“That’s not a flute, look at his embouchure”

It is a flute, since whistles, recorders, and ordinary flutes all fall under the same umbrella. However, it is a flute like older ones, before the mechanical change that led to them being held sideways.

Bassoons have a double reed like an oboe. Flutes do not use a reed. That’s the easiest way to identify a flute as opposed to other woodwinds. Does it have a reed? If so, one or two? If not, probably a flute.

Love them! Please react to three very different songs:

Eluvetie = pronounced Elveti is the gaelic/celtic name for Helvetia/Switzerland.
They have a version of this song where they switch between the different languages spoken in Switzerland which are swiss german, french, italian and english.

Based on what you were saying after the video, I believe most people were tribal thousands of years ago. They are just bringing back their roots. With the ancient Gauls who were a group of Celtic people, I would say they lived in tribes.

Next try their song "Rebirth" please. They use in my opinion the coolest instrument in metal, a Hurdy Gurdy : )

Well worth trying 'Death' by Cellar Darling, led by this singer after she left Eluveitie. Amazing flute solo

I liked your reaction! You were completely right about them sounding folkish, their genre is actually called folk metal :). About the melody being familiar, I think you're probably mistaking it with something else because I think it's their own (I could be wrong though). If you liked this, I'd recommend checking out their song 'A rose for Epona' or 'Alesia'.

Epica/Eluveitie best gig I've seen, level with Epica/Myrkur. ( I may have an Epica bias)
