These guys did it again. Reacting to Eluveitie is always fun and The Call Of The Mountains was a welcomed change of pace.

Any suggestions, leave 'em in the comments or hit me up on

Fun fact, there are 5 versions of this song - the English version and one in each of the 4 official languages of Switzerland (French, German, Italian, and Romanche)! It's supposed to be a kind of love letter to their homeland.

I love this song. Every time you go for a walk in a forest, you're guaranteed to bump into a folk metal band :)

"Yeah, I play in a metal band..."
"Oh, cool! What instrument do you play?"
"The harp..."

I remember when this song came out like it was yesterday and it was like "newer Eluveitie" to me but damn, it's from 2014, I'm old! 😂
"Inis Mona" is a Folk Metal anthem so I guess it's a must :)

Anna Murphy, Ivo Henzi and Merlin Sutter from this line up are now in Cellar Darling.

Ivo is the Rhythm guitarist in this video and Merlin is the drummer.

In Cellar Darling Anna sings, plays Flute, Keys and Hurdy-Gurdy.

Live they have a touring musician play keyboards.

Ivo plays Guitar and Bass.

Live they have a touring musician play Bass.

Merlin plays Drums.

I recommend Death live at YouTube Space London.

Also listen to the album "The Spell" since it is a concept album.

Yep as someone else says (and I've mentioned them before) Cellar Darling.

Since this was a somewhat lighter song vocally, my next suggestion would be "Thousandfold" by them. For contrast. :)

Anna Murphy was good with Eluveitie, but I'm happy she left and formed her own band, Cellar Darling. Now I actually like Cellar Darling more than I've ever liked Eluveitie. Their album last year, The Spell, might have been my favorite album of the year if Tool didn't release Fear Innoculum. If you want to check them out, "Death" is probably the first song I'd go with.

The children choir is the Children choir from the Conservatory in Winterthur, Switzerland
If you want to hear a more aggressive one from the Anna era try King or Meet the enemy

So it was Anna, Merlin (drummer), and the Guitarist that left the band and started a Prog Metal band called Cellar Darling that has a very Pink Floyd feel to it. Rebirth was the first song after the separation of the band. I believe this was the last music video the 3 did with the band. If I remember also this was the first album with that violin player.

If you want to hear more of Anna Murphy, you should check out the band she joined after she left Eluveitie, Cellar Darling. Also, Fabienne (the current singer, on the Rebirth video) has a side-project called ILLUMISHADE.

This song is awesome. They actually made a French version of that song called "L'Appel des Montagnes" which is the perfect translation of the English title.
And actually they played the French version on a gig just after the terrorist attack in the Bataclan in Paris in November 2015, as a beautiful tribute. A good friend of mine was at this show, that I believe was in Glasgow, and he told me that the emotion was so deep, everybody cried in the audience and even the band. And actually I heard it, you can feel the emotion, it made me cry.
Now everytime I listen to this song I think of that.

This is a go to song whenever heading out on an outdoor adventure. So good. If you want an all instrumental wonder that gives similar vibes and should be added to your adventure playlist: The Last of the Wilds - Nightwish 🤘

The whistle is a "low whistle", like the irish tin whistle only in a lower tone. The bagpipe is a spanish "gaita calega", sounds very similar to the Great Highland Pipe but not as sharp and crisp more smooth like a northumbrian or border pipe.
