Man it feels so... Strange... It's like the soldiers noticing that they've managed to resist the zombies, finally seeing the "Light at the End of the Tunnel", everything has ended. You just achieved a crucial victory, and maybe, the apocalypse has ended, you've lost lots of teammates on your way, but you made it, and you can finally go home...
It has many interpretations, like being the last man standing and being infected, about to do your last stand, but that is my interpretation, the song is just so warming...

I see a lot of people adding their interpretation of this theme, so I might as well add my own, I feel like this song is a mix of helplessness but also the light at the end of tunnel, a feeling like “I’ve made it, but at what cost”, I dunno, my interpretation is really simple

I like the part of the background footage at around 3:10, the man gets eaten alive, and another tries to save his comrade, only to most likely die to his own friend, only a few seconds later.

And the music as a whole, really feels like you are the one of the last people alive, standing atop a hill, building, mountain, watching as the world burns around you, and the dead continue to live.

This feel like a bad ending/true ending to the whole game! Like, this feel like everyone had become dead/infected and in one of the maps (not current, but like if there’s new objective and one of them is like The Finale), you won, listening to this music before you died. ❤
