AMD RX 7700 XT GPU Review & Benchmarks vs. 7800 XT, 6800 XT, RTX 4060 Ti, & More

preview_player
Показать описание
This review of the AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT GPU mostly focuses on comparing it directly against the AMD RX 7800 XT, answering the question of whether or not it's worth it to spend an extra $50 (against MSRP, anyway) to buy the technically higher-end model. In this comparison, we'll also present tests for the NVIDIA RTX 4060, 4060 Ti, RX 6800 XT, and many other cards. You should also check out our 7800 XT standalone review for more nuanced findings as to the competitive alternatives, as this one will primarily aim to compare the 7700 XT vs. 7800 XT (and, to some extent, the 6800 XT).

Hey Steve. As always great work with the benchmarks, but it's a shame to see the regular 6800 not being listed. It seems to be the biggest threat to the 7700 XT so far. In Europe, the 6800 is roughly 40 to 50€ cheaper than the 7700XT and has more memory...now, all we need is benchmarks. Cheers.

The performance we saw from the 7900 xt(x) I considered waiting for the 7800 xt for my next upgrade thinking it would be way better than the last gen. I ended up pulling the trigger on a new nitro+ 6950 xt for $600 back in February. In hindsight it was probably the best decision I could have made.

Even before benchmarks, the extra $50 seemed like a no-brainer. Similar to the $100 difference between 7900xt & 7900xtx.

I am glad GN started doing the "overall" plus or minus performance relative to another GPU. One constructive criticism I have is uncouple different resolutions on each slide and also put them in order from advantage to disadvantage. The chart seems crowded and hard to read as a "snapshot" in a video. It provides an information overload that is hard to read at a glance. Love the content!

I love seeing Intel on these charts. I wanna see green on the CPU charts. Let them all fight for every single penny. It's bound to work out for us.

Been a long time fan of the channel. Love what you are doing. While life is currently hard from long-term health issues, I wanted to say thank you for keeping me going. <3

So happy to see the 1070 still being represented on some of your graphs. Really shows me I need to update my graphics card!

I was going to hold out on for the 7800 xt but realised that wasn't much difference so I brought a 6800xt boxed yesterday here in the UK at cex for £450 with 2 year warranty. The gpu looked like it's never been used, so I'm incredibly happy what I got

I upgraded from a 970 to a 6700 xt +TLOU bundle this spring and im glad that every card released thereafter reaffirmes my purchase decision.

The fact that the 1080 ti keeps popping up on charts is a testament to its longevity.

It's very interesting they priced them $50 apart. I bought the 6700XT for £400 (around $500) and it's been decent. Looking at these two cards, 6800XT feels like it's a better deal if you can find it below the price of the 7800XT.

In Germany the pricing for used RX 6900 XTs is wild. You can get one for around 500-550€ ~ 530$. So the new cards dont really stand a chance if you are willing to take a risk

I honestly don't understand why you are so keen on recommending the 6800XT over the 7800XT; both cards come at the same price when bought as new, but the 7800XT has a slight edge in raster, a decent edge in RT, consumes less power and has newer features like the AV1 encoder. If you buy the 6800XT used you might save 50-100 bucks, but you'll have a used card with no warranty in case something goes wrong. Again, I don't get it. In any case, thanks for the great review, I can't thank you enough for what you're trying to achieve and the values you stand for in this industry.

Maybe this stagnation in GPU performance increase will allow us to finally see games being optimized for current hardware instead of needlessly pushing their unnecessary and unoptimized "improvements" down our throats.

Was just looking at these two cards on Newegg and had the exact question pop in my head that you answered perfectly in the conclusion. Thank you for giving both all the little details as well as a quick and decisive summary 🙂

I bought a used 6900 XT for 545, and don't anticipate upgrading for two more generations. There are plenty of bargains to be found.

As each of these cards drops, I'm glad I was able to pick up an OC'd version of the 7900 XTX for below MSRP.

The $50 difference may not seem significant for first world countries, but it can have a huge impact in other places. This is because there are additional costs like custom duty, state tax, etc. that are added to the MSRP and vary depending on the price range of the product. If a product crosses a certain price threshold by a small margin, it can affect the overall price significantly. Hence, the final cost can be $100-150 more than the MSRP. This makes a big difference for consumers who have to pay these extra charges.

Honestly 7700XT should be around $350-370 given the small improvement with respect to the 6700XT.

I think AMD really pushed the silicon hard to get these results too.

AWESOME - Thanks to a history of banging reviews like this I totally sidestepped the GPU pricing hell and 18 months ago upgraded from a 4690K/ GTX 1070 to a 3600/ 6600XT. First time in decades I'd stepped from the Intel/ NVidia slow lane of innovation and gouging.
Nine months later I bought my first ever 2nd hand video card. A Red Dragon 6800 for $382 ($650 NZD) which after using MorePowerTools, undervolting and overclocking gets my boost clock to a stable 2460 in game !!!
So I'm looking at your 6800 XT results and going "yeah baby'.
And I thought the 1070 was a fabulous bang for buck as it lasted me 4 years.

Cheers and thanks to you and the team, carry on.
