Arduino & Hall Effect Tachometer

A friend is making a large scale art display with a rotating cylinder of LED strips. He wants to use an exercize bike to control the speed the display spins, so I made a tachometer using an Arduino clone and a Hall Effect sensor.

I'm just using a simple counter that ticks every time the magnet passes the sensor, counting for 500ms and then multiplying that out to RPM.

The lathe is set to 3200 RPM so it's not far off and I'm not sure how accurate my cheap lathe is anyway.
