Training a SCARED horse ~ Will he ever get better?

Two years ago I found Studman at an auction.
I paid $300 to bring him home.
He was foundered and had minimal handling.
It has been a long road but he is finally figuring out that life here is different!

Scarlet was an unhandled wild horse from the same auction.
She cost $25
After 2 years she has started learning about the saddle.

These two are great examples of horses with a higher than normal fear response, learning how to regulate that response will make a huge difference in the success of their training.

If you haven't seen Studman's story yet, check out this video

Although I do buy alot of "rescue" type horses I am NOT a rescue.
Just on person trying to make the world a better place one horse at a time!

People that do t understand that horses have different degrees of stress because of past experiences should not be working with horses…and I think you’re doing wonderful job with all your horses

I'm 62 years old now and thirty years of it all I spent with horses and teaching children equestrian. I loved my trail horses the most. Trust me, you my Clever Cowgirl are doing a wonderful job with your horses. If someone watching doesn't agree, they can go watch another channel. Horse phycology is super important in training difficult horses.

My 2 favourite things that CC has taught me: Grass has different levels of sugar depending on the time of day and horses wear glued on Crocs! So interesting!

I can't help it! I just love Ziggy''s little fuzzy Arab face. He's not too dished out like some but just right. And then there's mr.
Nigel! Oh those spots and his "Fabio face" with his hair in his eyes. Scarlet and Prim are BEAUTIFUL. But I feel so bad for Studman. He doesn't know the love of a human. He's always so tense and expecting the worst. And everyone else is all so kind of "take me as I am" kind of guys". Most of the time it's the little steps that are the most important. Thank you for taking your time with them all.

While you were training Scarlett that scenic background of the blue mountains, pink skies turning into purple was a majestic sight!
You did a great job framing that scene…

Watching Scarlett today, reminded me of my Oldest Son, when he was little around 3, if we were in a hurry he LOVED to play, "na nana na na, you can't catch me". He would get right up to me and Id go to grab onto him to put his shoes or coat on and that little booger would laugh this deep, mischievous belly laugh and JET! He would come back over close and stand there when Id move he would move just out of my reach, and take off, come back and so it again. So as I watched Scarlett, I couldnt help but giggle to my Momma self, cause I KNOW THAT FEELING! I guess it doesn't matter, human, fur, feathered, they all have moments of BIG personality, being a jokster and picking on their Mom's. I could imagine Scarlett saying to you, " na na, you cant touch " ..lol
As always, EXCELLENT video! You are TRULY a joy to watch, I swear, its like Im standing there listening to a friend talk!
I have been sick and feel so badly, took my meds, gave Hubs Daddy duty, climbed in the bed and was in tears I felt so bad and frustrated and as the first tear started to roll, your video posted. Can I say, you were a blessing to me today! I wiped my tears, just snuggled up in my bed and watched you and your babies while I waited on my meds to kick in, and I had a distraction for my mind, it was so peaceful listening to you talk and even a couple giggles from Ms Scarlett and her game and as you can see, meds are working quite well, (I get chatty.) I feel better and relaxed! So Thank you kindly!
Thank You Again. Be Blessed!!

I've rarely seen people explain signs of stress in the horse's face, that was super interesting! ❤️ very nice to see that you give him the time that he needs to be calm ❤️

Re Scarlet, so neat to see a (formerly) wild animal happily become trained

I’m done with politics and to calm my own political anxiety I’m skipping national news for now. Instead I’m watching YouTube videos and especially enjoy yours. Please keep posting regularly-you are helping your viewers as well as your horses!

I know that Studman isn't really the "star" of the channel but I really like him! Glad to see a bit more of this guy :)

Some horse folks just do not "read" horses! You do, and that is a gift! Even Tiny knows that you are engaged with your animals! Always enjoyable to watch each horse and their differences and level in their training!

This is a great video contrasting Studman and Scarlet, as well as showing just how Tiny contributes to their training. I love these training videos and rewatch them sometimes to see if I can spot more in the horses on a second watch!

My son has a horse that passes gas when it gets scared or even happy excited. He just lets it roll until he is calm. It’s the goofiest thing i have ever seen!

The scene behind Scarlet’s portion of the video didn’t even look real! Just beautiful.

Stewie on the gallop when you call, he loves you, CC. You are so in tune with your horses and their psychological makeup, amazing talent.
