Few people have been as quoted as Jesus. Just about everyone uses Jesus’ words to show how He supports a view they hold. But the popularity of Jesus’ words has led to more than a few people misquoting Him. Often it’s not that His words are intentionally misquoted, rather they are taken out of context. We insert our own bias and fail to look at what Jesus was actually saying. All this leads us to believe things that Jesus never said.

These are the 6 things that Jesus never said, but that Christian often believe.

I would love to hear from you! What surprised you most about this list of things Jesus never said?

What would you add to this list? Not sure if this applies, but Jesus didn't just say to believe in him and that is the way to God is through him only but to repent (change your mindset) and truly change your ways, follow the commandments and have fellowship. I have seen that some Christians believe that if they just believe Jesus is our Lord and Savior, they are saved without any extra effort from us.

Also, talk with him in prayer. Lots of people don't know how to pray or they feel ashamed or just don't know where to begin. That just a few things that come to mind. It's walking with him, devoting time to know him, truly honor and worship him are all good first steps that will lead you to open other doors. Thank you for sharing, great messages, examples, and keep going!

Great nuggets! I am continuously surprised by the number of people who treat God like a magic genie that bends to their will and provides whatever they ask for. This has got to be a product of not reading the bible within context, chapter by chapter and book by book.

In old testament he did use their own sins to teach them however.

I have one that is surely to ignite a lot of people. Jesus never said that no one will know the day or hour of His return. Read the context carefully. He used the present tense, not a future tense. At the moment it was spoken His words were entirely true. But He gave no indication whatsoever that it was a truth that would always be so. He's no dummy. If He meant for people to understand no one would know He would not have been using a simple present tense when He spoke. Unfortunately, people have been taught something Christ never said. The result of that is to induce people to refrain from studying the Scripture to find the truth about His return that is revealed, if you seek it. Many will respond that we can only determine the season, not the day or hour. I disagree. There is no such Scripture. I'm quite confident His own WILL know when to expect Him. "But you, brethren, are not in darkness that that day should overtake you as a thief." 1 Thess 5:4

Oh BS...
Of course Jesus said his primary mission was to gather His people - the Hebrew NATION. Secondarily, He would use the Hebrew Nation as an example for non-Jews to follow. He also did not say "let Muslims take over your nation."
So there, Jesus preached Nationalism!
