Very true. Last year when my mom was in urgent care for what ended up as a stomach virus, the doctor came in and said everything looked okay, I think he was concerned more about intestinal blockage. Luckily test results go through a portal that had already emailed me with results and I asked him if it was okay that her kidney labs were wonky(she has kidney disease and I know her baseline). He hasn’t seen them and was really glad I said something because she needed more treatment.

Thank you for being truthful. It indeed appreciated I just took my result last week now waiting for my appointment. My LabCorp sent me my results via email and to my doctor, worried about a lot of the risk factors of alerts along with the ast and alt high and moderate/abnormal. Anyways can't wait to see the NP soon.

I had thyroid cancer. My endocrinologist’s office forget to call me with the positive results from my fine needle aspiration biopsy. I followed up a month later and called the office to get the news. They were shocked and said nobody called you. I guess someone made a human mistake and dropped the ball. That’s why it’s a good idea to sign up for the labcorp/quest/my chart patient portal so you will get your results right away. Had I been signed up for mycooper I would not have had to wait a month to get my results. Then if you see something abnormal you can call your doctor’s office right away. It’s still best to get a call from the doctor. For example, quest says TSH for normal patients should be .4 to 5. However, for me as a thyroid cancer survivor I need my TSH suppressed a little bit and mine should be .4 to 2. That’s why you should always listen to your doctors interruptions and not solely relay on the portals normal reference range.

My doctor had the results of my abnormal results but never called which delayed further testing. I would say doctors offices are using patient portals more now because of his convenience, and to get test results to you sooner.. my particular office was triple booking appointments, and they just have too many patients now and I feel the quality of care has gone down the drain things definitely arent the way they used to be not enough employees, and not enough people in the medical field who belong there just my opinion.

What if you reached out to the Doctors office 3 times and they still didn't respond back with a suggested ned for high cholesterol?

Many times when I go to my doctor they usually tell me once my test comes back and it’s normal we won’t call you but if it’s abnormal or inconclusive they usually called had me come back to the office. Or sometimes I would call them too.
