My grandfather used these with a trailer. A line tied on the back about 12" long with s big Trout fly. Caught all kinds of different fish. Big bream and bass.

Thanks for the video Randy, Jitterbug is an absolute favorite. Funnily enough, the day I got it last year at bps it was my Dad that picked it out and put it in with the other lures... all without saying a word. I was thinking something around the lines of "why is he giving me this old ass lure". (i obviously didn't say that out loud) but after I took it out on the pond, I loved the action and that you could slow-roll it and still have a significant amount of sound. (I lost it a couple weeks ago but got some more 😢) It's the only topwater along with a buzz bait I can confidently say will catch fish. Also my friends don't believe me when I catch fish on it in the dead of winter

Worked good forty years ago, still catch on it today.

Love the old jitterbug. I’ve been changing the hooks to better and shorter shank hooks and adding split rings.

What about at night in the summer time?
And do you change out the hooks?

Glad to see the Ole faithful jitter bug still getting some love🤘 however I have to disagree with "have to use flurocarbon line" . I've been using these for 30+ years with only braided line. I have a 10lb 3oz bass on the wall I caught using the baby bass colored one. This lure slayed bass when it came out, and still slays bass to this day. I've caught my biggest bass and the most bass of my life with these babies. I realize they don't actually take a whole lot of skill, but who cares it never gets old on a dead calm morning the sun just starts rising, fog on the water and a bass explodes out of the water scaring the hell out of u lol my 10yo son just discovered jitter bugs so I had to buy a bunch more! Best top water bait ever!

I’ve got an OLD jitterbug I want to start using again. What hook would you recommend to change out the old ones? What size? Would you use split rings? Have not used this lure in decades and really want to use it again. Your advice would be appreciated.

Question I have 2 old jitterbugs, and both need new hooks. What size do you recommend, and how do you recommend to change the hooks out? I’ve heard keep the old hangers and cut the hooks off, and use split rings. I’ve also heard to replace the old hangers with an eyelet. What do you recommend also with the size of hooks and size eyelets, and split rings? Thank you

The idea that old lures "dont work anymore" is a load of BS spread by the pople who make and sell lures. They dont want us to have 6 lures in our tacklebox...they want us to have 600 lures.
