If anyone thinks west will transfer cutting edge fighter jet technology with India for local manufacturing, without extracting a strategic shift, i have an island to sell

Shiv,
You forgot about Jaguar fighter jets of current fleet. They are about i think 5 to 6 squadrons in IAF.

Are you guys crazy... Road side tea maker take better and on time decision than our airforce decision makers. PAF soon will have j31, they will place further other of j10 and more upgrades will be carried out on their jf 17.. What we have as of now? Still begging Americans for their engines and relying heavily on rafale.. Mrfa statrted in 2007 and it's almost 20 years.. Thanks to both upa and nda for their immense support

I don’t think we should be acquiring Russian jets after what happened in the Feb 2019 skirmish. Both MIG and Sukhois were highly disappointing. Best to move on to US platforms

Even if we purchase 114 jets, which is oblivious not possible in a near future, we will still be far far behind the Chinese Air Force. So, our main focus should be only on AMCA, so that we can produce rapidly to match the number with PLA Air Force.

Rajnath Singh will say no and will force Indian Airforce to buy more Tejas.

Why not implement conditions on OEM’s:

1. Using Indigenous Gan base AESA Radar UTTAM-II or Supply Only with Gan AESA Radar to cater future needs.

2. Gan AESA base Components like Jammers, Communication Eqs

3. Conditions to Production line cum MRO in India, Delivered 16th Aircraft onwards.

4. Starting with 50% Indigenous and ending with 80% Indigenised Supply Condition.

5. Engine Manufacturing cum MRO in India for Future Proof

6. Try to make some OEM Aircraft with Indigenes Engine Kaveri Mk-II.

7. Support in Kaveri 90Kn 110Kn so on.

No home grown 4.5 Gen fighters available for next 6 yrs at least & even then we will be getting 16 fighters per year, so we cannot afford to have our fighter strength dwindling for the next 12-15 yrs even if everything goes according to plan. We should try to find a way to get 114+29 Rafael’s with a production line setup in India. On top of that we should explore ways to acquire F-35 with a gradual but increasing parts mfg & MRO in India. This is a high operational cost aircraft & will require many of our systems to be upgraded, it won’t be pretty, however it will enhance our preparedness for network centric modern combat scenario & for AMCAin future. It will also be a major psychological boost against China & Pakistan, most importantly this will give us access to a Global F-35 market for our parts & MRO services.
