Psychopath vs Narcissist: What's the Difference?

Показать описание
Narcissists and psychopaths are two different personality disorders that are often confused with one another.

Narcissists are characterized by a grandiose sense of self-importance, an obsessiveness with themselves and their own abilities, an extreme lack of empathy, and an overall sense of entitlement and superiority. Narcissists manipulate others to get what they want or feel they deserve, and can act out in aggressive or violent ways.

Psychopaths are characterized by a complete lack of conscience or empathy, an inability to feel remorse or guilt, a callous disregard for the rights of others, and a tendency to act out in impulsive, often violent ways. Psychopaths are often unable to form meaningful relationships and may resort to criminal behavior to fulfill their needs.

Overall, are there any substantial differences between the two? Find out in the video.

Thanks for the knowledge, I agree how in this world you allow someone to mistreat you and you are suppose to Feel sorry for them….

Their sickening sense of entitlement also conflicts with the supposed low self esteem.
Another good vid thanks Kim 👍🏼

It’s interesting…. It helps dig into the differences between BPD, NPD, and psychopathy…. But you’re right… what’s the difference? They’re all just assholes at the end of the day. The main trick is to learn how to spot them and not deal with them. Protect yourself first. Hard lessons but worth their weight in gold. Appreciate everything you have put out there.

After having a baby w a narc, professionals can diagnose your symptoms of anxiety and depression etc. as having postpartum when it’s actually simply having a baby w an uncaring mean unhelpful etc. narc.

Kim, I appreciate your way of thinking about these issues, and broadening the mindsets.Your explanation makes more sense to me. I have seen many crossover behaviours that made me think the same. Many thanks for this important video.

I agree with you 100%
I couldn't believe the horrible things that this creature wanted to do & did . Evil in the purest form I have ever seen . Just really enjoying cruelty & evil behavior, even to his own children !!! Gastly !!

With respect to my own experience with narcissistic personalities, this approach actually makes more sense to me.

Thanks Kim. You just emphasized what I was already thinking.

Kim the earmarks are synonymous. It seems this sacred knowledge of clearly delineating evil was kept from us likely so we would be slow to judgement. And its in numbers far greater than the 1%-20% thats toted around. Feigned love empathy and care are difficult to fathom, until youve gone through DNS post ‘NPD’ abuse. Thx for this one.

Does it matter which is which? Yes...and no.
Yes because, they are different. They have different traits, signs, etc.
No because, they are both horrible to be around.

The difference is psychopaths can control their behaviors and be good to you aslong as youre following his page if you stand against him on anything they will punish you and wont feel sorry for it a narcassist will hurt you no matter what u do so when it comes to relationships it really depends on the type of person you are to decide if youre better off with a narcassist or a psycopath if you are a challenger and dominate relationships then youre better off dating a narcassist if youre easy going looking to be led by your man and please him at all times then a psychopath is for you if you try to dominate or control a psycopath in any type of way he will leave you in a blink of an eye

Interesting you should say that when I knew something was wrong in my relationship I wasn't sure what it was I thought he may be a psychopath... Then down the road I studied narcissism and he put that bill too he was going dark on me right before I got out I knew it my intuition told me that I was in danger and I got up just in the nick of time.

Completely agree Kim regarding who makes decisions on the dsm. Experiential learning has taught me that a lot of doctors qualified to diagnose disorders in the UK lack emotional empathy & a lack of willingness to see thing through another persons perception. There’s so much more to a person regardless of what end of the emotional empathy spectrum they fall on than a txt book diagnosis. The mere mention of narcissistic personality disorder or psychopathy causing trauma to the non aware victims has made doctors shut the conversation down as if you’ve just said something wrong 😂 Im laughing to lighten the mood. Humour is essential for recovery ❤️‍🩹✌🏻

Even if they're just rude or disrespectful, it doesn't matter if they are either: Narcissists or pscyhopaths...
If they are mean, WALK!!

I'm sure it is possible to be operating from a place of low self-esteem and also behave sadistically. Both are possible. The latter doesn't negate the former and saying they have low self-esteem isn't an automatic pass on any behaviour.

I honestly don't think there's any difference between the narcissist and the psychopath

I used to think my 30 years husband was just a covert narcissist but now I am rethinking he really is just a psychopath raised by what his best friend from childhood called Ward and June Cleaver. Childhood trauma was not his issue. He pretended to be a prince for 10 years, but now that his parents died he is the devil himself, thriving on inflicting pain, spreading hate and discontent!!!
