2009 Ford Fusion Shift Interlock Stuck

Spilled coffee was the problem. Cleaned up shifter after removing with hot water. Video shows how the emergency unlock works.

Hello I replaced the shifter assembly and the shifter is still stuck in P. Could that be an electrical issue? Bty do you know how to tighter the shifter cable in the front? It keeps loose and couldn't hold it in place. Thank you.

What if it won’t fully go into park? Like the red and blue wires are not connected to anything. It looks like a sensor. If I buy a new gear box it’ll work right?

Do you know if this same method would fix an issue with the shifter belt getting off track? It appears torn along the edges. When shifting into park, the belt scrunches up and doesn’t move like it should. You have to force it into park. I don’t know what to do to fix it. Was told that that part cannot be replaced, I’d have to replace the entire unit. Wondering if it needs a cleaning or WD40 or something like that to help? Have you ever seen this before?

Hey if you manage to see these I’m having an issue I have a 2007 3.0 ford fusion
The issue I have is the button is stuck and won’t fully come out meaning I can’t remove the key of the ignition.

I can fully move the lever from P to any position but I need to step on the breaks. However it seems the button stays pushed as I can freely move it from D to L to R with just moving the lever(not pressing the button)
I’d appreciate any advice

Iis oressing rhe little part to release it a fix? Can it be driven after you get into reverse with that?

I put a whole shifter in my 06 lincoln zephyr had too get one off a mkz with od and bypassed that in thory it should work but the shifter is still locked no way it could have a bad shift interlock solenoid cause it was spose too be tested before I bought it online what eals could be locking my shifter I replaced the brake light switch on the break pedal and the neutral safety switch

I have 2011 Ford fusion se. I poped the little square off next to the shifter but no button inside. It is empty.

Did you end up having to take out the whole center console to remove the shifter or can you just remove the nuts /bolts and get it out?

I have a 2012 ford fusion and I took it to a mechanic because it was having problems with the heat and the air but they messed my car up. My key is stuck in the ignition and it won’t come out and they said they broke some piece but we had to fix it they called it a switch it has red, blue and black wires and a black end piece with like a blue cone on top of it that you can push down and it clicks but I have no idea what it is all I know is that it goes under the shifter somewhere. Do you have any idea what it is?

Just curious: My gear shifter in my 2008 Ford Fusion never locks in place and I have to feel it jerk back or forward to know if it’s in Reverse or Drive. What could cause that, because I always feel like when in drive I’m in half way into Neutral!!

Nothing against your video it was a little helpful. I wonder if you manually released the shift lock? So little effort with the screw driver. But if your foot wasn't on the break, then you must have released manually, correct? If your foot was on the break, I suspect not. Or mine is broken :-(
