Windows 8.1 Computer

This is newest addition to my collection and is still currently a work in progress as I still plan on getting it a new GPU and CPU as well as a RAM upgrade.

Windows 8.1 is an operating system released by Microsoft in 2013 as a successor to the failed Windows 8 operating system released in 2012 as a successor to Windows 7. Windows 8 saw the removal of the start menu, start button and gadgets but saw the introduction of the start screen and charms menu. However, the operating system failed as a result of the system being hard to use and unfamiliar. Windows 8.1 was released shortly after bringing back the start button making the system more familiar to users and the operating system would boot to the desktop instead of the start screen. Support for Windows 8 ended in 2016. Support for Windows 8.1 ended in 2023.

This was my most favorite OS. Pair windows 8 with classic shell and you have an amazing OS.

Its 2024 and I am still using windows 8.1. Its the best OS you can have on your mid range laptop. I bought my first laptop back in 2018, It had windows 10 pre installed but after updates it became slow so in pandemic 2020 I decided to install 8.1 and suddenly that dying i3 processor and hard drive came to life. I like that old 2013-2014 square shaped corner design with basic animations. Now Windows 11 - Android all are pushing those rounded corner edges design even Youtube thumbnails have became those soft edges (thank you Youtube redux extension). Everythings is working fine and still going to use it for next 10-15 years.

I love Windows 8.1, it's my favorite version of Windows, I remember when I first used it I felt like the interface was very futuristic, basically using Windows 8.1 I felt like I was in the future, it also has the most unique start menu.
It is also the most stable and smooth Windows.

Windows 8.1 was my first os I used, I had a Nextbook Flexx 10 that runs it since I was little kid. It was the best device I've ever used in my life. This os was very awesome and I had fun with it.

I love Windows 8.0. Not 8.1, I love 8.0. It's the best version of Windows ever. People say it's bad because they never tried to learn how it works or how to use it properly, except me, because I did learn it. I don't even have a touchscreen PC. And after that, it's the best Windows version ever released. Everything feels so smooth, the animations are a sight to behold, even though I'm using no more than just a mouse and keyboard. It's not just the fastest version of Windows ever, the user interface, which everyone, in a dumb way, calls the worst user interface ever, is also the best I've ever used. Believe it or not, but from 2022 to 2023, I was actually using Windows 8.0, even though support for it ended in 2016. I only had to leave because multiple apps including Chrome, ended support for the OS. If Windows 8.0 was still supported, I would've been using it even today. I don't know why, but I like every Windows version that has been hated since launch, except Windows ME because I've never used it. I love Windows Vista, Windows 8.0 and Windows 8.1. It's probably because when an OS is hated, you actually use the OS properly as it was intended to be used, not immediately assuming that it's going to be shit judging from the negative opinions of the public. Only after doing that, I came to know how awesome these seemingly bad OSes were LOL. Currently, I'm using Windows 11 in the Windows Insider program. And all those people saying "Windows 7/XP is the best ❤️❤️" are so stupid, I sometimes even get a good laugh out of them. It's like if you believe an OS is good you gotta preach and reaffirm that same thought in the public for it to be true. How insecure some people are for something as simple as an OS, is beyond me.

And before you say it: Yes, I wrote a biography for defending an OS.

Nice! Windows 8.1 had a beautiful aesthetic and I think it’s criminally underrated. Windows 8.0 is pretty bad though.

Windows 8.1 was one of the more stable versions imho after Windows 7, XP and 98SE.

I'm a big fan of Windows 8.1. My first laptop runs Windows 8.1 and when I first used it was a very nice experience.

I miss that startup screen so much (that one when you press the Windows button). I had my first Windows 8.1 when I was in primary school (7th grade) back in 2015. After several years, this system came to an end and I had to upgrade it to Windows 10, another system that's going to discontinue on late 2025.

Have tried it on my Old PC and it works surprisingly well. This may work on my Laptops but ended up missing drivers that support Win8 as it designed to run Win10 and Win11 😅
