Apple cider vinegar had my hair looking fabulous 🤩.

I've been using apple cider vinegar on my hair for YEARS, but I still use it in conjunction with my shampoo.

Crazy, i haven't used shampoo on my scalp in years. And it only touches my hair if I get something nasty in it. I rinse and condition it well 3 times a week with a rice water and herbal tonic I make 2 times a week. Always rinsed in cold water, no product used, and no heat styling. Shampoo made my hair and scalp dry and brittle. Made it itch and flake like I had bad dandruff. All those problems stopped after I quit putting shampoo on my hair.

Diluted ACV helps me with scalp itch. Usually after every shower, even if I shampoo, my scalp gets super itchy. If I apply ACV to it before taking a shower, I don't experience itch at all.

I helped my mom fix her scalp after she was very sick and couldn’t shower. I used an apple vinegar scrub to loosen up the build up, shampoo and conditioned regularly, and then spent time with a fine tooth comb lifting out build up slowly over a week. Patience is key- the scalp can become tender when loosening up dirt. I help my mom shower now so she can stay healthy and clean ❤️

My daughter hasn’t used shampoo in 4 years. She doesn’t use ACV for everything. She uses Indian washing powders, fruits, honey, once a month an egg. Her hair is past her rear and absolutely gorgeous. Who says we need shampoo it’s a total lie. We don’t need soap to make us clean that’s a lie also

Well I know of folks who do actually use ACV for their hair without the issues she is spouting. And use it for underarm smell. There is absolutely no reason to shampoo hair everyday. Do what works for YOU!!!

The mild acid in ACV removes all residue on the scalp and from the hair. The push for perfumed chemicals are not really needed unless you like it. The ick face and the over the top tire comment says a lot about how ACV is affecting her payschedule?

Shampoo was literally invented less than a hundred years ago. You're saying that the human body is unable to function properly without a product invented a couple a decades ago?

Applying natural oils for scalp massages really helps in hair fall control. Oils such as coconut, onion, as well as rosemary are especially good. I mix a few drops of rosemary oil to my liitllleextra coconiion hair oil shampoo combo, which this really worked in getting good hair growth.

I’m in cosmetology school and work at a high end salon. I’ve never met stylists suggest using it as a replacement, though I’m sure they’re out there. Using ACV is great for helping remove buildup from well water (heavy metals) which can weigh your hair down, cause dry/itchy scalp and reduce the effectiveness of styling products. Even so, my salon recommends using it ONCE A MONTH and using a shampoo after the ACV. They also recommend a water softener to help.

I totally agree and it always makes me wonder, why/how did we evolve to require surfactants? Genuinely confused about that!

I love the fact that so many commentators think that what they use will work for everyone. My adult daughter and I have two very different scalp situations and hair situations. We can’t use the same shampoos/conditioner or products. Her stuff would make me break out and my stuff would make her hair dry, brittle and frizzy. If we stick to our own routine we have great hair 😂 like I said at a family reunion, with me at 5 feet and my youngest brother at 6’4”- one size fits all is not a saying we put faith in😂

Some natural remedies do actually work better than the things bought at the drugstore. Best try it for yourself before discarding with the idea all together.

There are things from nature that can be used for shampoo though and work just as well as the product you buy on store shelves The stuff we buy from the store do have chemicals that are not good for the scalp also So 50/50 I usually look for a more holistic alternative for my self cleaning Thanks for this

Soap/shampoo removes oil, etc. and ACV removes soap residue and balances pH.

The best thing I did this year was give up shampoo. I wash with water, but I occasionally use baking soda to break up the sebum and a rinse of apple cider vinegar.

I haven't put a product of ANY kind in my hair for YEARS, and I have incredibly healthy hair. Just rinse good while running a brush through it during every shower. Even women are jealous of how healthy my hair is, no joke. 😅
