Omg, you would have thought I had 3 heads when I dared to ask if she had autism training!? She told me she told me she has a master's degree in sped. I looked up in my state FREE autism training, 3 separate programs. She was blank faced but still said she knows about stimming. Just wow. I am not a teacher hater. I love and have helped as much as I could when my kids were younger but this young teacher wasn't going to budge. Now this is my grandson whom I adore. So that wasn't the end of it. My grandson through the school psychologist got moved to a great program in a nearby school. That whole experience was a nightmare! This is my daughter's son. My son is a certified teacher. K-8th grade. My sister was a high school english/lit teacher and I have many more teachers in my family. But it didn't make a difference. I am an honest pitbull. You have to push for information, don't Give up! I am 58 or I would love to be an advocate. Sadly the teachers aren't given enough training and help. I love this channel Karen. The question parents ought to ask is what is the least restrictive environment can a student have a successful learning experience? One has to take into consideration how a student on the spectrum interacts with staff and his peers.

I have found teachers are not trained but they say things like; Oh I'm very capable at dealing with many types of behaviors. But when you address other wise ; all of sudden it's; that's not my scope of expertise. It's quite frustrating. It's all a corrupt system. It is what I've concluded. Unless you know the system and you know who to talk to and how to frame
