Sam, a two-year-old Percheron horse has been down in a field for hours, battling a very serious infection. What are your thoughts on Dr. Pol's visit to help this downed horse?

SEASON 16 EPISODE 9: Sam made it through! He was downed for about a week, they kept him comfortable and then he was up and back to his normal self!

That’s a true doctor. He says “let’s see what we can do” and did the right thing. You don’t just euthanize an animal. You had to cure them as a doctor. That’s the easence of medicine. That’s why I love Dr Pol

This is what i love about dr pol he never goes for euthanasia right away, he does everything he can to save an animal no matter how severe its condition

2 years old is just a baby, alot of vets would put him down, so glad he never gives up

I'm kinda disturbed by the flies on the horse, I was just screaming, "PLEASE spray something on him so that the flies don't go on him!" (But I chose to watch, so ye.)

A downed horse... pretty hard to think about it as it usually ends with death. So happy Dr Pol doesn't think so. Hoping for the best outcome :)

Odd, usually horses with Clostridial myositis also need wound fenestration and surgical debridement (i.e cut away dead/infected tissue and create openings for infection to drain out) along with the penicillin. Glad to know this horse managed to do fine with just the penicillin.
