*Please keep in mind that the "Laydown" is one of those tricks that takes longer to teach. The amount of time it takes for the horse to learn it is a BIG RANGE*
Part 1 shows you all the steps basically explained. This will show you what you're exactly looking for.
Part 2 is being recorded to show the laydown start to finish!
Part 3 will cover problems you may run into teaching the laydown.
Remember, this trick may take awhile for your horse to learn, but if you keep working on it 5-10 minutes each day you're horse will get it sooner than later!

It is lovely to see a young person with such an excellent understanding of horse behavior and the patience and tact to apply it. Super Job.

I don’t know how you can have any dislikes on this video, they’re clearly uneducated people. I train dogs, and I’m actually looking to try a couple things with my horse. You’ve done everything great, showed the horse all the links in the chain and set them up to win. Fantastic trainer, and with those strategies you could train an mammal

Nestle (My mare) is finally getting it! It's only been 2 days of working with her, and she is licking and chewing and already drawing her back feet closer and popping her legs! I am so proud of her and i just wanted to thank you for the info for the lay down! ❤🙂

The more I watch this video the more I admire her approach
She should publish a training manual.
She is also very well spoken

Absolutely outstanding explanation, this is the best method I have come across by far!
Using the horses natural lay down procedure they slowly understand what you ask and without force.
Without using force they respect and trust you, (Or continue to rather) other then feel submitted to having to do it.
A very good demonstration of pressure and release. Thank you!

You must have some horses that would jump into the gates of hell with you; trust level with these techniques.

Sam, very impressed with your skills not just with the horse but you explain it so well and with such calmness. Good job!

You know, when I was 6 (in 1960) I got my first horse. He was stabled at a riding school outside of the city I lived in (in Denmark). All the horses were standing in stalls, tied in their halters, 24/7 when not being ridden, in other words up to 23 hours a day for some. That was considered normal, and I certainly didn't know any better. He was actually one of the lucky ones, because I got to take him with me for the summer to the country, and he'd spend his days in a grassy field with cows. When I think back on that, I feel ashamed on behalf of all of us.
Now I watch people all over the world coming up with paddock paradises and what not, to improve the way their horses live (we can't all have 100 acres in the Mid-West), and I watch more and more young people like you, training horses with sense, sensibility, patience and understanding. It gives me some hope for the future of horses in this world.

I really liked how both the horses in this bideo remain calm and concentrated throughout the whole time. No resistance. Also, the appear to be really comfortable on the ground.

This is the first time I have ever ever commented on a YouTube video and its because I was so impressed. Very good video! Not a lot of jabbering. Easy to understand instruction for me as a person and great step by step breakdown to help the horse understand. Aware of what is good and natural for the horse, etc., etc. Nice job young lady.

Just found this video, and what a pleasure it was to watch how you worked with your horses, there is a gentleness and level of understanding and intuition that some people just have with horses, it is a blessed gift, and you my dear, certainly have it 🥰 what a joy and blessing your horses are to you, and you to them!
