When I joined the Navy long ago, I never thought I would end up teaching guys how to do laundry nearly every day. For those that are unaware, many uniforms are made of wool but Navy uniforms has this highest wool content and the highest quality Navy uniforms are 100% wool. You would be amazed how how much that costs and, not kidding, I have seen more shrunken wool Watch Caps, Watch Sweaters and Gloves that guys are oblivious to the instructions of 'wash in cool water, lay flat to dry' and use hot water for the wash and then toss it in the dryer at 100% HOT AS FAAAAKKK....and end up with sweaters, watch caps and glove ready to go on a GI Joe. If they're drunk? oh boy, its gonna be a long night.

You can also use the fabric softener ball. I used those for years before i had a machine with thd trays. 😊

What if you add white vinegar to the softener tray of your washer? My washer manual said it was okay to do that as long as it was only put in the softener tray.

My machine has a sensor so it only adds as much water as there is clothes and there's no soap dispenser so I have no choice but to put it directly on the clothes. I could wait until it fills with water with the clothes in it to add the soap but ADHD would never let me remember to do that on time.

Does it matter if it is powder vs liquid detergent? My top loader with no agitator does not have a dispenser for powder. I also use dye free powder with no fabric softener. I put clothes first then sprinkle detergent around the edges and on top.

I stopped using fabric softener as many washing machine gurus said not to …I am pretty sure you did too
