The last two might be a bit tricky to find, but they are all better techniques for water splashing.

Where I come from, we call your head first cannonball a "Suicide Canonball". Your splash has height, but you need to spread the splash out and push it forward as you land. The way to do this is to take a running start and use that forward momentum to jump out. As you are in the air, spread your limbs out like you are skydiving. Hold that position until you are just about to hit the water.

Right before you touch down, tuck into a ball and enter the water while doing a somersault. You want to time it so your shoulders hit the water first. If you over rotate, your lower back will hit the water like a belly flop.

If you do it right, you will get a massive splash that spreads out and travels far. We used to wait for the lifeguards to walk onto the bulkhead across from the deep end and we would do a suicide cannonball off the 3m board. Afterwards, the lifeguard would be soaked and anyone in the water facing the diving board would get a mouthful of water. Good times 🤣

In New Zealand we've been having competition's for years for the biggest splash. a.k.a (bombs). #1 Manu #2 Staple and #3 Gorilla

We do a variation of the suicide by aiming for someone on the side of the pool and leaning forward. Just before entering the water in the forward leaning (but not flat) position, you extend your right leg, if aiming for the right side of the pool. This breaks the water before your exposed chest and back. You also use your leg to spin yourself on your right side. The "dive" basically mimics taking your hand down at an angle to splash someone and ability to can aim that splash. It's far more strategic than either of these, if your goal is to completely soak someone on the edge of the pool.

I saw guys make a huge splash from a 3m diving board. They dived forward as if to enter a normal dive but 'touched their toes' as they entered the water. The splash hit the roof, easily bigger than the cannonball.
