What does that tab on your rearview mirror do?

Took 10 years of driving for me to figure this out! Instant night vision - so helpful on the highway at night!

Lol I’ve always wondered what that tab was for and just today while looking for a replacement mirror for my car I came across an article discussing this very feature in a very matter of fact, “obviously we’re all familiar with...” type way and was completely dumbfounded. I don’t recall learning about _that_ in drivers ed, and I def would’ve remembered lol 😝

I came to youtube looking for answers and found ur vid, so thank you for sharing— and I’m glad I’m not the only one who had no idea what that tab was for!

I knew since I was a kid what that little clip was for but I never knew which way was in night mode thanks for making it very clear

I’m driving down the highway and I had to look up this video to prove to my gf that mirrors can block high beam lights. She yelled at me to “stop touching my f***ing car while I’m driving and now i can’t see”.

I had long drive at night so got tired from dazzling beams from cars behind.. So switched the button on mirror to night mode. Then its all started...
I had two cars throwimg tantrums on road by signaling/lighting, one other guy gone too far... By overtaking n positioning his car in front of mine and footed breaks (scarring tactcis kind of) on motorway! So why?
Is button on mirror /night node Not supposed to be used according to those idiots, I mentioned earlier?

I have a 2020 Fusion, but it doesn’t have the tab. Can the mirror can convert for night driving?

This whole time i thought the mechanism was for drivers behind you that have their High Beam headlights on. I'm gonna start flipping that switch at sundown.

The first car I drove was a 1966 dodge cornet. That car had this in the mirror. Just sayin, not a new feature

That technology has been around since the 1930s.

You should play around with those long things sticking out behind the steering wheel (the big round thing in front of you). There's like a whole bunch of things to keep you amused while you're driving.
