Have a Meaningful Life

Who are you? Why are you here? What does your life mean? These seem like questions for religion or philosophy, yet very often the most powerful answers come from within yourself. Have you read Viktor Frankl's "Man's Search for Meaning?" Licensed therapist Jonathan Decker helps you to find your purpose.

This is one of those videos you should watch from time to time, just as a reminder. We tend to forget this!

This was somehow exactly what I needed to hear today. Thank you.

I needed to hear that today.
I went through a lot as a kid and teenager and suffer from PTSD and anxiety but I have come a long way already.
There are still days when I feel like a victim, asking "why are these things happening to me", instead of accepting that it's just life, constantly changing.
I found it helpful to not ask the "why" . I acknowledge it, it's there, but after that initial trauma related response, I try and focus on the things I can control instead, which is 99% of the time my attitude towards the situation.
Thank you for your channel (and for Cinema therapy).

I like this video. Recently, I was trying to figure out why I keep finding emotionally unavailable men and trying so hard to keep that relationship/friendship going.
I’m still trying to figure out boundaries and understand emotional manipulation.

I may be a tad nihilistic, but a bit like Arthur Dent at the end of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, meaning never brought me one iota of happiness. Or at least, it didn't bring the absolution I was expecting, it didn't make all my problems magically disappear. So searching for meaning for me, just meant I lost focus on what I had right in front of me, and just focused on this arbitrary thing I thought I was missing, that I needed to justify my existence.
So when I eventually had enough and gave up on the chase, I found happiness, and I found out, that it didn't need to have deeper meaning, to be *meaningful* and beautiful.
The lack of meaning is liberating to me.

I could go on, but this comment is already too long for my comfort, so I'm gonna stop it here.

Is good to know that everyone has a diferent meaning for theirs life, not that one meaning is grong but that maybe is not just the right one for me. Is like, they are lots of meanings and ther all are as real as the rest. Es reconfortante. Thanks for share the video Sr.

For me it is very frustrating that only thing that can be change is my attitude (at least is some situations). If it’s one of things I can influence on – fine. But it’s hard to accept the fact that the only thing I can do something with is my approach.

I've been watching your cinema therapy channel and very much enjoying it. happily subscribed. You mentioned you work in Utah. I know you're booked but do you have any recommendations for other therapists that you trust in salt lake?

Thank you for this video. It partially helps with my thinking process to some of my personal problems.
Beside, I want to ask you. If I want to dive in psychology and mental health, which books or sources of information should I research from?

Hey, I really enjoy watching your videos especially the Cinema Therapy ones.

I was wandering if you could possibly recommend someone around Ocala FL (preferably cheap...since I’m broke 😂😒).

I know I need help but I don’t know where to go 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️
I’d really appreciate it if you’d respond. Thanks.

VIDEO IDEA: This is a little different than your regular videos, a little more like the Cinema Therapy videos, but you should do a video about the absolute insanity that is Josh Richards and his his treatment of his sort of girlfriend Nessa Barrett.
