The Power of Now Animated Summary

The Power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle - The concepts in this book can come across as very simple, but don’t let that trick you into dismissing them without any contemplation. these concepts, although simple, are profound.. The power of now gets into some deep stuff that needs to be reflected on way beyond a short video summary… With that said, keep an open mind going into this. You may get an initial reaction to resist what this book teaches, but just put your opinions and judgments to the side for a few minutes and consider the possibilities.

The three primary concepts I want to focus on are as follows: 1, you are not your mind, 2 - the present moment is all we ever have, and 3 - acceptance of what is. There are many other lessons in the book, but I want to focus on these for now just to keep it simple… and then maybe I’ll make a part 2. Let me know if you’d be interested in a part 2 in the comments.

This stuff changed my life. I suffer from depression and suffered from constant suicidal thoughts for years. Meditation is the key. I’m also very spiritual (raised Catholic). Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t practice meditation and also be Christian. You absolutely can. Peace be with you.

Found this powerful quote today that sums up a good portion of The Power of Now:
"You cannot suffer from the past or future because they do not exist. What you are suffering is your memory and your imagination." Sadhguru

How strange it is to realize I've lived 25 years not knowing I am merely the observer of these abyss-like thoughts and emotions.

I came up with this book almost two years ago and put it into daily practice, it has completely changed my life and the way I look at my thoughts and how I feel. Thanks for sharing this summary, great video.

I purchased this book over ten years ago and gained great insight from it then...and still do. I've read it several times. It has remained at my bedside over the years and every time I find myself dealing with a stressful situation I pick this book up, let it open to whatever page it opens to, and read for a bit. It calms and centers me every time.

A few people have complained about ads interrupting the video... I get it, that's very distracting! I don't usually manage the ad placement, so, my apologies. What I will do is only put ads at the beginning and at the end. To support me, please watch my videos until the end, like and comment. I appreciate it! Thanks!!

For the first 5 minutes of this video I realised I wasn't even taking any of it in. My mind was elsewhere worrying about something. Had to go back and start over again. That's how much my mind struggles to stay in the present moment. Bloody difficult

What a beautiful summary of Eckhart's principal ideas. They are subtle and often difficult to grasp. I appreciated the way you addressed the problem of misidentification: "If I am not my mind, then who am I?" You answered that question well, explaining how a person is not their mind, but the observer, the witness, the untethered consciousness. I appreciated your explanation of what happens when you are willing to give the witnessing consciousness more "air time." You described how unconsciousness begins to dissipate, inner spaciousness expands, and intuitions show up. And I appreciated your explanation of what happens as mind chatter drops. You outlined how distressing thoughts about the past and the future lose their grip. A person settles into the peace of being themselves, without resistance to what is happening now.

This is probably the most precise summary of Tolle’s teachings I have ever seen. There is one point I find important that many people seem to miss: True acceptance begins only when there is no longer a notion of somebody accepting. Acceptance is not a doing but a being, thus not subject to concepts of time, will, trying, conditions, degrees, goals. Even the popular idea that “everything is already accepted”, hence “nothing to do” avoids the central point: that YOU ARE this timeless presence called "acceptance" – while that voice in your head is trying to convince you otherwise. Just saying.

If they taught this in school it would have been more valuable then the entire elementary, mid, and high school combined.

I have been listening to Tolle’s the power of now nightly, even as I sleep. This little video really brought the message home in a concise and helpful way. The more I practice being in the now, the easier it is and the longer it lasts each time. Thanks for the great video!

Amazing job. I've been hearing and reading Eckhart for two years and it's really life changing if you persist. I'm 45 and getting free from excess worrying and anxiety.
Thanks your video is also a piece of art.

I'm only 4 minutes in, and I've listened to The Power of Now and Eckhart podcast sessions with Oprah - but - I haven't properly understood these teachings until I listened to your little movie. So, thanks.

You Sir are a genius. I'm an artist and totally appreciate the hard work it takes to do the animation but you get important points across, takes real skill and timing. Thank you for sharing.
