The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle: Animated Summary
Показать описание
Today’s big idea comes from the life- and mind-changing book ‘The Power of Now’ by Eckhart Tolle. In essence, the book shows you that you can free your mind from worries and virtually all problems – simply by living in the NOW.
In this video, we will present four of the main thoughts and ideas presented in the book.
“You are not your mind.”
Early on, Tolle states that almost everybody in this world is suffering from compulsive thinking and identification with their minds. This causes a lot of MENTAL NOISE and is one of the reasons why it is so hard for many of us to find inner peace.
“Letting go of psychological time.”
Tolle uses the term PSYCHOLOGICAL TIME to describe our identification with the PAST and our continuous compulsive projection into the FUTURE.
All negativity is essentially caused by an accumulation of psychological time and denial of the present: Feelings of guilt, regret, sadness, and resentment are all a product of TOO MUCH PAST. Likewise, feelings of unease, Anxiety, Fear, Stress, and Worry are all things that are caused by TOO MUCH FUTURE.
“Dissolving the pain-body. “
Tolle uses the term PAIN-BODY to describe the collective sum of all negative feelings and “saved up” trauma that you have collected through life and now carry around with you every day.
The pain-body feed on negative emotions and is constantly looking for situations that resonate with your past painful experiences. For instance, you may feel it taking over in situations when reminded of past experiences of loss and abandonment. And once the pain-body has taken over, it wants to be fed by even more negative emotions and grow bigger.
“All problems are illusions of the mind.”
This may seem like a hard concept to wrap your head around. Most of us have a hard time believing that our problems – whether they have to do with finances, relationships or our working conditions – are just a product of our thoughts and that we are able to make them go away just by thinking differently.
But that is, in fact, Tolle’s point. The situation you are in right now and the problems you think you have are most likely all attached to PSYCHOLOGICAL TIME – your past and future. As Tolle explains, we are often too focused on our LIFE SITUATION, not our actual LIVES. What we need to do instead is to be conscious of this very moment. What problems do you truly have right now – not tomorrow, or last week or ten minutes from now – but right now!?
And there you have it! The key takeaways from The Power of Now by Ekhart Tolle
