I see it as saving the driver’s life/ keeping him alive so he can be held accountable for his actions. Bless this doctor ❤

I wasn’t a doctor nor a nurse but a med tech, that worked on the surgical unit. And I had this older male patient that was basically total care..he never had any family visits. Besides his sister and some case worker people. I had to ask the nurse does he have any family? Come to find out he does have family, the family wanted nothing to do with him because he r*ped his granddaughter over a period of time. When I tell you…it was so hard to go back into the room to treat him with kindness and take care of him. It changes your whole perspective…

EDIT: Just addressing ONE comment in this section, who seem to have a problem with health care workers. As a healthcare worker, dealing with patients. I would LOVE to know if my patient is a rapis*. I’ve been touched, groped, by male patients quite often. So as a female tech, having to work & be around that. YES I would love to know who I’m dealing with. So I can act accordingly. (P.S. to those who saying it was gossip & idk if it’s true. You weren’t there 😂, I was! Talking to his case worker, and sister who pitted him. I’d say 100% he was guilty of his crimes)

Im a paramedic. Early in my career I was dispatched with another unit to a sexual abuse call. The victim had stabbed the assaulter 6 times and he was on the floor bleeding out.... The assaulter was my patient.

All of us were working on the assaulter but it was my unit that transported. I was very hesitant to work it, but i knew i had to uphold my oath, and deep down i knew i couldnt let this patient die no matter what they did.

In any medical profession, it is not your job nor your place to judge, and in no way do you decide who gets treated and who doesnt besed on how you feel. That was definitely my biggest hurdle working in EMS.

We ended up going back for the victim and transporting them as well. We took them to a different hospital for their own safety and peace of mind. Luckily there's three trauma hospitals in my city.

My parents were killed by a drunk driver when i was 22. I am forever greatful to the doctors and nurses who saved the drunks life that day. He was held accountable and made to answer for his crimes. No easy way out for him after what he stole from me. He at the time had two small children also. If he had been left to die instead of spending 6 years in jail they would have missed out on seeing their father get sober and actually become something other than a drunk sack of crap.

Its been 20 years, he has been sober for 13, he actually runs a saved and sober program near my home. Countless other people have found sobriety because of him. I was his daughters biology teacher when she was in high school. I saw him at parents night. Thats how i found out my parents deaths weren't in vein and he actually pulled his life together after a brief relaps after getting out of jail.

People dont deserve to die for doing terrible things. Frankly, my parents were kind people. They wouldn't have wanted more pain to come from that situation. They would have harassed me relentlessly about forgiveness, quoting the Bible and asking if i thought i was better than Jesus, because Jesus already forgave him. Thats just how they were.

It was a blessing to see Gods work making blessings come from the seeds planted by their deaths.

I worked as a overnight CNA at a State Health Center in the town I was living in and I had one male patient about his early 50s that was paralyzed from the neck down he could still talk and he had a electrical wheelchair he would ride to the women’s side of the hallway and just stare all them all. With this creepy grin on his face. I also notice that no female nurses or PCT were assigned to him. So one day I walked past him and he said whew! Mama if I could feel my P I know I would be very aroused😮. So I tell him in the most respectful way that I don’t tolerate that kind of behavior and I went to go report his behavior to the doctor on call. I found out that this man had raped about 20 women and was sentenced to 60 years in prison but once he was placed into custody the prisoner’s beat him so badly that he was left in that state. Karma always has A-Way kicking you where the sun don’t shine. A few months later he passed away from Covid. He hadn’t been outside of that facility in 26 years but randomly caught Covid. He never once had a visitor.

As an anesthesiologist myself, I'd prefer not to know this. But even if I do.... There's court, judge and jury. That person is my patient now. Point.

As a pediatric nurse, I always respect the people who choose to work with adults. There’s some abusive bad people out there and we take an oath to always advocate for and care for and do what’s best for the patient no matter their history or background. In pediatrics I feel so protective of my patients, they are children they are so pure and some of them have been through so much in their young lives. Breaks my heart. I’ll do whatever I can to make a hospital stay have positive memories, anything to make them smile, laugh, or feel heard and seen. ❤

I work as a beside nurse and you’ll be surprised some of the stories you’ve heard about the patient that you brush off as a rumor till you come across an article or hear it directly from the patients mouth, especially when they feel they are on their death bed and some just want to get it off their chest!😢 Trust and believe it’s hard to stand there composed as your brain is hitting flips 🫨. Healthcare is not for the weak. 🤲🏽💜

This is why I love healthcare workers. I wouldn't be able to go back into that room and treat him with kindness.

Worked at a nursing home and developed a friendship with a resident I will call “Al”. He was funny, easy going, didn’t ask or nag the staff, just really a nice kind. His wife was an absolute b****. Came there daily in a bad mood and only stayed for an hour max, like she came out of duty, rather than love.

Years later, I attended a care meeting with Al’s family, including his children, who rarely visited and were also unpleasant to interact with.

Turns out, Al’s dementia was alcohol related. He was an abusive alcoholic that used to beat his wife in front of his sons for minor transgressions. He’d also cheat on her and say it was because she was too skinny.

The oldest son was estranged from the family as he tried to defend his mother, but she wouldn’t leave out of marital obligation. We never met him.

My friend Al was a wife beater and an adulterer, and I watched his broken wife sob like a helpless child at the news that he was so well liked by the staff…

I imagine this was the same reaction of the doctors who worked hard to save the drunk driver who killed my bestfriend and her bf. She was so drunk she was driving down the wrong lane on the highway going 90 mph. With her lights off. I thank him for saving her so she’ll have to face justice for her actions

I used to be a confinement officer and I never read anyone’s charges because I knew it would interfere with my job. When it came down to it, I was there to protect and serve the inmates not judge them.

My coworker did clinicals in the trauma center and told me she was caring for a man that had slit his throat… She came to find out that he was a father that murdered his whole family and tried to take his life but was unsuccessful. She said it was really hard to go back and care for him.
