It's not about leaving your comfort zone. It's about expanding your comfort zone.

Thank you for showing another viewpoint on this 👑.
Feels like everyone is just shouting get out of your comfort zone with no real explanation, which just leads to more anxiety.

I think getting out of your comfort zone means to make your comfort zone even bigger, so that you can be at peace at even more places doing more things.

Very good video Einzelgänger, I have discovered not long ago what you are explaining: the comfort zone is the best place to feel real happiness. Until that time I have been traveling without fixed goals and this had created a lot of anxiety in the past. Now I am a much more relaxed person and I can really work in what I like thanks to my everyday routine. This had shown me that life is not about reaching out to unknown territory but to build your own reality with the things that you truly love, and this is only achieved by full dedication.

I think it is important not to depend on your external comfort zone for inner peace. For example, hardships are an inevitability of life which lie outside of our "comfort zone, " yet it is still possible to find happiness and peace within oneself during times of hardship. This is the true comfort zone we should not try to break out of.

Fact: Many of life's challenges and tribulations come at you daily even when you do not invite them. Therefore it is good to have some degree of comfort zone to go to when you need that peace and balance. This my philosophy at age 70. I am happy to have my comfort zone (faith in God, peaceful home, healthy simple food, quiet activities I enjoy, beauty around me, a fairly intact loving family when we need each other, and a spirit of gratitude for all these things. We have worked hard and been out of our comfort zone and expanded thousands of times which cannot be avoided. And extreme strife is to be avoided. But then always circle back to that desired place of contentment and some degree of peace.

I love the comfort zone too. I like to see it as expanding the comfort zone, instead of completely leaving it. Like having one feet in the comfort zone, and the other in the unknown. by taking little steps the comfort zone expands, and more options will be available. When I completely leave my comfort zone, the chances are high I will get stress and fears which may prevent further growth.

I can see that there are some that seek to enjoy a calmer, more comfortable life, that do not wish to join the populist view that outwards achievement has more value and should, therefore, inspire more respected. Sadly, some that feel comfortable can sometimes feel unappreciated because their achievements are not truly valued by current standards. They can even made to feel as failures simply because they have a different definition of success. I enjoy my comfort zone and all the quietness that it offers. Although I do not feel alone in it or seek validation in my beliefs, it is rather nice to feel I am not the only one with such views and I do have company. Thank you all for showing up

I leave my comfort zone only when necessary 👍 One needs to enjoy parts of life while possible - Then comes change and a new comfort zone.

As an introvert I can totally agree to this

so, in an nustshell, the CZ is like being a guest in someone's very comfortable home; its great, until they start to show discomfort with your presence, then your inner self tells ya you betta pack an go

Hi Einzelgänger,

Thank you for this video. I have been moving around for the last 2 years (1 year backpacking solo overseas) and since returning back to Australia 8 months ago to a new state (I chose not to return to my last place of living before I left aus), I’ve continued to be on the move here too. I have felt challenged by the decision of where to live, where to start over. It’s like my whole life is starting from scratch and I actually have been thinking I could of stretched myself so far and snapped many times however kept pushing on and not settling in a new place at least no longer than 3 months at a time. I am always torn between to keep travelling or to stop and build a “nest” so to speak which I would love, I’d love a cozy home and regular circle of friends, connection. I have wondered if travelling like this has now become my Comfort zone hence why I find it hard to stop. Starting my life from scratch with lots of options and opportunity is great but overwhelming. I have a plan but I would love some feedback from you :)

I think that comfort zone is actually important because it's where you can safely refresh and feel fulfilled even without doing anything extreme. I think when you have a good comfort zone, it's going to be easier to take on challenges.

I think we should all learn to appreciate what we already have. But when we have so many opportunities living in a first-world country, each must choose how hard, if at all, to explore them. Thanks for the advice Robert!

Awesome. I'm the same way. My best growth has come with thinking in my comfort zone. Leaving it in small doses and discovering new comfort zones is what it's all about. Thanks.

To leave the comfort zone you first need to be in the comfort zone. And that's not the case for many people

I concur. It is counter to the popular consensus that to grow u need to have appropriate stress. I even suspect it is a dogma that corporate shovel onto its employee to accept whatever hardship coming. I think the best way to learn, to succeed, is to feel no anxiety, no stress, to get into the flow zone that we feel we are at out most productive state. Just look at Warren buffett, he got no stress from doing his best work, and he never change his principle in his work. Compare this to the prevailing dogma that we need to constantly change, to adapt. I think people need to understand the difference between change and learning. Never stop learning, but never change your principles once you found the right ones.

I was fortunate enough to spend 10 days in your country once upon a time. Vondelpark will always remain a comfort zone for me. Thankyou for your insights.
