Fun fact, American cheese is actually watered down cheddar cheese. That's all. It's not manufactured in a lab. It is cheddar cheese, water, and a little sprinkle of an additive to help things glom back together.

The reason people talk about plastic with American cheese is due to the glossy, overly smooth texture being similar to plastic and a myth, that NileRed debunked, about American cheese being chemically similar to plastic in composition.

Also, the cheese was under the pickle, and the weird goop was on top. Honestly? Whilst it has the right texture for a load, it isn't at the right temperature and the moisture content is too high for it to maintain the characteristic stringy, gluey appearance for as long as it would take to get to this point in the video. If I had to hazard a guess, more likely spit, but a really viscous loogie type spit. Some real lung butter.
