,,Magnificent Nine' [SFM/TF2 Movie]

Socials:

A paramilitary group R.E.D. in the backdrop of the Cold War settled into a routine of winning skirmishes with B.L.U. This modus operandi is disrupted when R.E.D's pragmatic leader is confronted by the sentimentality of his militants.
This project was generously funded by TF2Cases.

I started this project almost 6 years ago when I was a 14-year-old boy dissociating from social life and finding solace by listening to ElectroSwing, pretending to understand the "3-act-structure" and animating TF2 videos. A lot has passed since then and I've got a sober look at what my audience and I desire from my future projects. While the earliest parts do a fine job at displaying the TF2 game-play mechanics, stick to universal values and archetypes, and sometimes shine with inventive visual storytelling; the latter parts delve into a slice-of-life storytelling, philosophy, real-life historical references and "bathos-styled" character humor. In my new project: "GAMEVERSE: Pilot Episode" - I will try to bring the best of both these worlds of story-telling. Wish me luck.

This video is not monetized through YouTube ads due to copyrighted music, I'm not interrupting the enjoyment! Stay frosty, my new SFM/Blender project is also TF2-related and is going to be a couple hours long!

EDIT (2024-02-06):
It's been a couple of days and I wanted to write a bit more about this "movie".
The very generous 25000 likes compared to 340 dislikes, speaks to Your leniency and understanding, for which I'm very thankful, however, I still feel the need to say the things I'm about to say, to kind of... explain myself?
I think that if I hadn't experienced the production of this movie, I would have written a rather scathing comment about it. I'm glad that I found my "visual identity" and an audience throughout making it, however, It's such a wasted opportunity because I poured tons of time and resources into making it. If I only had sat down with one of my life mentors 6 years ago, and written a coherent script, instead of half-assing it, expecting people to dismiss the obvious errors in judgment due to it being a YouTube video, I would be able to proudly sit down and show it to both fans of TF2 and fans of movies. I can't do the latter and the former.
As of now, when I skim through it, I sometimes grind my teeth at the wasted opportunities and sometimes smile with joy when I see that I have captured a meaningful emotion with my animation. If I were to rate this, comparing it to "real movies", I would give it a 3/10, all things considered. That being said, I hope that this video is an important milestone in my visual-storytelling-identity seeking process.

The fact that the tf2 community is able to do those hours long masterpieces on old, cranky and buggy software is just amazing.

a big reminder that this all started because a red scout and blu sniper were dueling against each other in a match.

You can really tell how the time has passed when after the intro you see the first scene and the whole style is different

Everybody thought Tf2 was dead but then two 2 hour, full length, hella good MOVIES were made by incredible creators within a year of each other. Of course one was a psychological horror movie and the other was an action-mystery that came out in episodes, but the enjoyment is none the less for either. Keep making things like this creators!!! We really appreciate them

Well, must say was pretty impressive to watch. Story was kinda all over the place at times with no real direction and several unfinished plot points or story beats that ended a little too quickly, no savory end. But the visuals and everything for the most part was fun and I still enjoyed what I saw. Very impressed with the voice actors in this presentation, they fit their roles quite well! The animation and style visibly improved in some ways throughout the film especially towards the end showing improvement which was great to see too!

I love that Demoman having no explosive-related charges means that prior to being a TF2 mercenary, he only used explosives legally or somehow managed to avoid being caught.

After 6 years in development... it was bloody worth it!

Mate the dialogue and personalities in this film, especially soldier's and the green "wise" man, has me dying lmao.

An absolute joy to see another passionate TF2 SFM movie, and a helluva fun watch! A beautiful mix of cartoony comedy, fighting, and TF2 shenanigans!

there is an immeasurable amount of homoerotic tension between red spy and red medic for pretty much all of the movie and it's hilarious. me and my friends just started cheering for them to kiss when we watched it and considered the medic scooping spy up at the end a good enough substitute and said it was a win.
