Excellent metal detector, but stud detector is useless. Hypersensitive to slight changes in the pressure with which I hold it against the wall, and says studs are in different places every time I use it.

What could mine be picked up in the wall when it constantly beeps (slow or fast) - metal/ac detection side. My trying to hang shelving and it’s never acting the same or am I just being thick?

Not very helpful as you don't show where you mark the wall and you don't explain - you should highlight whether the position of the right side, left side or middle of the unit should be marked.
