4:04 fun fact, Coffee was the main thing the British drank, but a fungal disease that targets coffee plants happened. So the coffee harvest was affected so only the rich could afford coffee due to a raise in price due to not enough supply for the demand. It was then that they found out about tea, and started to import that instead, and that is why many British people drink their tea with cream and sugars, because it was how people drank coffee.

So it was only the poorer people could afford tea, and when instant coffee was found to be a thing, grown in Africa instead of S.E. Asia, coffee became more popular in England, and ground coffee fell out of favor. And because most people aren't educated about this, you get great things like British people adding coffee grounds to hot water, and then wondering why the grounds didn't disolve in the water like instant coffee does.

I always swipe the Samarkand wonder for the colonial age, being able to have ALL kids period instaget highschool education for as long as you have it, that really boosts your educated population and means more meat bits in the factories making you money and means more people who can get a college education.
