How to Install the SCC Super Z-6 Tire Chain

Installation vehicle is a Land Rover LR3 with 255/55R19 tires.

With a lowered car (like these chains are designed for) you do not have anywhere near that much room in the back for latching that first connection. What I figured out after 3 hours in blizzard conditions is that installing them upside down (over the top of the tire, rather than under) allowed me to reach the connection rather easily. 3 minutes a side after that.

These are the best tire chains for ease of install. I bought some other brand that require turning the wheel and back over them one at a time. Sometimes you just don’t have the space to be backing over the chains with the wheels turned to full lock.

Everything works as shown… as long as you have purchased the size that is compatible with your tire. Don’t wait till you’re on the mountain AND there is enough clearance in the wheel well. Practice at home.

I am donating this unit. What doesn’t he show the whole story? Freezing cold, snow, cars low to the ground in the first place, untangling two units in the freezing weather, getting it somehow behind the wheel, in the cold, getting the chains to go around the wheel, trying to get it over the wheel (what about the obstructions holding the tire on the car?) and working blind because you cannot see behind the wheel? This video is worthless -glad i tried it out before the snow and before it was needed. I’d have frozen to death before I could get it on.
