People much often become horders during their lives, rather than being born as a hoarder.
Every hoarder has a different reason (trigger) why he or she became a hoarder.
The stuff they collect are giving them the feeling that they have something, that they own something, that they are saving something, that they are taking care of something, and they feel very happy for a while when they bring something home. And also, they know that the stuff won't go away. They will stay with them as much as they want. Which means forever. Something in their lives triggered that state of mind. Unfortunately, they can be helped only if they show at least a small amount of will for that. Otherwise, there is almost no chance you could help them, because they will start all over again as soon as you turn your back. Throwing their piles away without their permission will not fix the problem at all, and it will rather make all much worse. Remember that.

The levels are incorrect. The first few levels aren't considered hoarding. And the stuff itself is only a symptom, not the actual problem.
Hoarders aren't collecting, they might call it that, but it's really a tendency to acquire too much stuff and an inability to discard or give away things. Collectors aren't hoarders unless they keep collecting until there is zero living space left.

The picture on the title is not a hoarded house.

Way too many generalities in this video. Not everybody fits into a category. Just look at the so-called levels of hoarding. Level one or two or is hoarding? Yeah, I don't think so, that's the majority of everyday American homes.

Thank you for this video I do not meet the psychological clinical definition of a hoarder however to some people I may have too much stuff my house is clean and orderly very well organized I do not have stuff stacked to the ceiling where you can barely walk in every single room I am tired of my kids calling me a hoarder this video lets me know that I am definitely not a hoarder I have no problem getting rid of stuff I recently just got rid of approximately at least 25 pairs of shoes and I’m also getting ready I’ll close the Netflix show called hoarders made me realize I need to get rid of stuff however as I mentioned I am very clean neat and very well organized

What this video failed to mention was that most hoarders were introduced to this sickness by one or both parents . It's sad that the narrator would attempt to connect hoarding to genetics !

My son, my beautiful litle boy is 36 and lives his life bringing garbage home from bins. He is a junky and he is alone he is 36 and he has caused me so much grief, I am too old for this and I get told to shut up and go to my room. I dont know what to do, and I am terrified that he is going to kill me, and he takes steroids. GOD,

I don't know why they depicted the hoarder with raggedy clothes and such. There is nothing wrong with hoarding stuff, as long as its good stuff and you have a place for it. They show the person in the video having broken monitor and apple cores. That is trash not something useful.
