Hey Josh that was me in the finals match with you, I remember being very upset that I had lost at the time. But honestly thank you for the match man it highlighted some holes in my grappling and has helped me train better. Thank you for the match dude!

Speaking as a body builder you actually made insane gains for your first 30 days. That looks like a years worth of gains for a natural athlete

Hi Josh, as a young man don’t make the mistake of not training your legs. Unless you are a jacked up bodybuilder you won’t get to big to the extent it will prevent you from achieving leg locks as stated in one of your comments, you will just get stronger. Training legs will enhance your overall power. Best of luck 👍

Seeing your progress as a martian artist/grappler in real time is beautiful. Keep up Josh.

DUDE! This was a great video. First off congrats on the transformation and the wins in your tournament! Those no gi matches were so fun to watch with your narration. Also just wanna compliment how well structured this video is. Your pacing and editing is awesome.

I would (as someone who lifted and grappled for 20 years until health issues sidelined me) really suggest doing heavy squat and deadlift, that kind of core power is soooo helpful. you don't need tons of reps to boost strength. Great video btw

Nice work. I'm glad you addressed the GR gear issue.
When I was NAGA competing (long before you were born) I was stupid strong. Muscle has always come easy to me. Unfortunately, I relied on it a bit too much and lost some matches to weaker, more skilled opponents (one in particular, at the NAGA Worlds Grappling Championship... uhhh.. in 2000??, I came second to a gentleman who went on to a very successful UFC career) Strength training is important, but be moderate. Injuries can set back ALL your training.

i competed in october of '22 and started lifting heavy weights shortly therafter. i'm working on size and strength (also inspired by Gordon) and am competing again Jan 22 2023. this video really affirms what i've been feeling in the gym, too-- my passing feels stronger for sure!

Thx for sharing your journey, Josh - I’m inspired to try to gain some strength and weight too!

I always enjoy watching your videos because your commentary is concise and straight to the point. That last part with the editing in the weightlifting montage was kick-ass storytelling, though! Sending you positive vibes this 2023 and I’m sure you’re going to be going upward from here 🙏🏾

Nice man, great progress. I might've missed it in the vid, but did you need to move up a weight class after you gained the weight or nah?

hey man, I've seen your stuff for a while, and it looks like you've made a lot of progress, congrats! I'm glad you are liking lifting with training, it was a huge game changer for me. lastly in your finals match, your opponent was regaining guard every time you tried to pass. I think you would have a lot more success if you had a nearside underhook on a couple of those passes. That would prevent him from pushing your knee back into guard. it is a super effective passing style and as you get stronger it becomes even more dominant. let me know if you play around with it. Great video!

Brother the only thing Gordon Ryan is doing differently is taking gear. You bought a bro split program for $100.
