Ten days after four University of Idaho students were found stabbed to death in an off-campus house in Moscow, police have not identified any suspects or persons of interest.

Moscow Police, Idaho State Police and the FBI are among the law enforcement agencies investigating what ISP communications director Aaron Snell on Tuesday called "a very complex case."

"We have excellent detectives. However, it's a large scene," Snell said in an interview with KTVB.

Police plan to update the public on the investigation during a news conference scheduled for 1 p.m. Pacific/2 p.m. Mountain at the University of Idaho. KTVB will livestream that on KTVB.COM, KTVB+ and the KTVB YouTube channel.

The students who died were 20-year-old Ethan Chapin, from Conway, Washington; 21-year-old Madison Mogen, from Coeur d'Alene; 20-year-old Xana Kernodle, from Post Falls and 21-year-old Kaylee GonCalves, from Rathdrum. They were found dead at about noon on Sunday, Nov. 13, in a three-story house on King Road, less than a mile from the U of I campus.

As of Tuesday, police had received more than 700 leads and interviewed 90 people.

I would not be surprised if the murderer was already inside the house before anyone arrived home.

Something tells me they’re close. Curious that FBI rep did not speak

How does Idaho's head of the state police (Kedrick Wills) not know he should be sharing what he knows with his counterpart at the state police in Washington State (WSP)? "I can't speak for Washington's state police", he says when questioned by a reporter - as if the idea of coordinating across state lines is a foreign concept. With WSU and the campus in Pullman only a few miles away, the Idaho State Police does not make contact with the WSP? Where did this guy (Wills) come from, how did he get his job? Where's the governor in all of this?

That sounds like it's likely someone they know. Too random and too personal with it being a stabbing.

No new info. It will be difficult to maintain engagement without new information on their progress.

I can completely understand not giving out much information. The murderer is probably watching this news conference.

It's the silence that makes this case so eerie. Not only a dog who doesn't bark at an intruder but four victims who don't scream to awaken everyone, even though they have defensive wounds. To me, that makes it highly likely the killer knew the victims and the dog. If awakened in the middle of the night by a stranger with a knife, I think most anyone would click into terror mode and immediately scream loudly for help. But if the intruder was a trusted friend, I can see how someone might instead respond, "What are you doing, Buddy?" and perhaps receive the initial stabs with protest and disbelief, more quietly addressing only the attacker rather than calling out to others for help before it was too late.

Not one comment or mention by the police about the Corner Bar. Kaylee and Madison were there for several hours on the night of the murder Yet they didnt shut down the bar for 1 day! Has all the video tape been combed through from they're time at the bar? Theres been no mention or no statement from bar owners. Very high likelihood that is where the murderer stalked them! Who was at the bar? Why no comment? Why business as usual from the bar and no discussion of video? Common 10 days late

I’m not very confident in their “advanced investigative techniques.

They know who it is, the moment they say the scene was sloppy I knew they have dna . They have to gather enough evidence to seal the case, Dna alone is not enough a disputable being a party house .

One quashes a rumor, not 'squashes a rumor'.

@Lauren Patterson had a great question, it would also be possible for the FBI to look at all cell phone pings to the nearest tower between the times of the murders to get a list of numbers.

It's a small community, has anyone noticed someone gone missing or absent out of the normal?

I'd like to add my two-cents here. I was working at the time of the press conference at a hospital and so I wasn't able to fully take in everything that was conveyed. But some of the main points I do recall were the following; No suspects have been named or arrested. Well obviously. But that doesn't mean they don't have a number of person's of interest or a suspect in mind. There's good reasons for not wishing to divulge this information. It could compromise the ongoing investigation by alerting him or her. They'd want the suspect to feel that they weren't under suspicion until the forensic analysis has been completed. The suspect would undoubtedly be under surveillance. They have continually referred to the knife they suspect having been used in the crime as a a fixed blade. They've provided no other details. That it was a single edged or double edged, is it serrated or non-serrated or a mixture, it's possible length and width et cetera, the medical examiner has certainly provided the investigation with such information. They have since refused to release the names of those who were present at the residence and involved in the 911 call. We're already knowledgeable of who exactly the other two female survivors on the first floor were. We know that a cellphone belonging to one of these young ladies was used. But revealing just who she or they were can demonstrate a relationship between herself and the other's present at that time. It's understandable that police will not disclose these identities as it serves two purposes here; first it could place them at risk of reprisal from the perpetrator, secondly, police may feel that one or more are somehow involved in the crime. It is possible that there are witnesses involved, someone saw the perp or has information pertaining to a possible identification. There could be multiple reasons why their identities are being sequestered. The Captain of the MPD stated that rumours that the victim's had been tied and gagged were "not accurate". Is an interesting choice of words. Why not simply state these are untrue. It may simply be his (and other's) choice of words, but I feel the usage of untrue would be more appropriate here. They may not have been found bound and gagged at the time of discovery but is there evidence that they had been at an earlier point, evidence of ligature marks but the offender had removed these items?
But that's just me. It was stated that release of the 911 call would not be forthcoming, at this time. That it was a part of the investigation. Why not? Is there specific information given during the call that is crucial that would identify the perpetrator or was something amiss about it? They've also refused to say exactly why they felt and continue to feel that this was a targeted crime. Yet not specify which victim or victims we're the target(s) The Captain tells the reporter that you're going to have to trust us on that one because they're not going to release why they think that. The residence had an internet connection. A reporter asks if the wifi hotspot could have pinged the perpetrators cellphone if he (or she) was carrying one. No real response, he did a talk around that question. (You can bet that the investigation is attempting to obtain a warrant for a data dump from cell towers. When asked if there was evidence that the perp visited the first floor (where the two surviving women roomed) refused to disclose this as it's a part of the investigation. I'd like to know why the investigation is not disclosing exactly what room each victim was located. (I already know which room each victim had in the residence) The statement that two were found on the second floor and two on the third is hardly sufficient. And shouldn't be withheld unless there is a particular reason behind this secrecy. The fact that a victim was reported to 911 as being unresponsive is also questionable. With multiple stab wounds to each victim there's be a good deal of blood apparent to anyone finding them. This is something that would not be missed. Not only the blood but the sharp force injuries as well. If the victim's we're killed between 3-4 a.m. that morning and yet not discovered until several hours later, then we can expect that decomposition of the body and the smell of blood would have also been apparent. There's alot not being reported here. For goodness sake... Blood was photographed dripping along the outside of the residence from one of the bedrooms. I would think that a simple stabbing to the upper chest area is not the only location involved. We're their throats slit, were they decapitated? Did the injuries involve much more extra trauma... skinning? evisceration?
