Police search for answers in murders of four University of Idaho students

A manhunt is underway for the person responsible for the murders of four University of Idaho students in their off campus home last week. So far, no suspects have been identified in the attacks. Aaron Snell, Idaho State Police's communications director and the public information officer for the Moscow Police Department, joined CBS News to discuss the case.

No one head anything because they were passed out from a night of drinking. I've been passed out from drinking and a marching band could have paraded through my bedroom and wouldn't have woken me up. Also, the police know alot more than they are letting on. Sometimes the best tactic is to let the perp think they are in the clear so they let their guard down.

Okay, everyone keeps saying how were the surviving roommates able to sleep through this, but it's also a fair question to ask that how come none of the other victims who were murdered heard anyone else getting brutally attacked as well? My understanding is that multiple individuals lived there. That means that at least when the first person was being murdered that anywhere from 3-5 other people didn't hear or know what was going on and even this is just an assumption. None of us know what happened, but likely it was more than just the two surviving roommates that didn't hear what was happening. It would be shocking for anybody in that house to not call. Very likely that not all four were being attacked at the same exact time but again, it's just an assumption we don't know what actually happened.

If this was random, with no connections, it will be very difficult for the police to solve. However, if there are connections, and the police have a suspect they will be gathering enough evidence to make it a solid case.

Roommate calls friends over first to have a look. 911 call placed, saying my Roommate is 'passed out'. Yet the police said the scene was messy, i.e. 4 stabbings, likely quick aim for carotid 'neck' arteries which spew blood out at an immense rate and volume. How can you say a stabbing victim looks passed out? Makes no sense

I hate how the Idaho police keep trying to make it seem like they are on the case and keep talking without any more information, but the FBI really took over.

1. Every cell phone is tracked, even if it is not in use. Go to the cell tower data. 2. The girls spent several hours at a bar and could have been stalked, starting from that location.

okay but the coroner said the scene was extremely graphic and there were multiple stab wounds, it doesn’t make sense the roommates didn’t see blood or anything. Like if my friend was passed out and wasn’t waking up I wouldn’t call my other friends unless one was a cn and nearby… they were close enough to assume they were passed out how did they not see what the coroner saw.. idk it’s been a week now
