$500 for 9 People? Weekly Sale Ads vs. Wal-Mart Prices

Shopping for the best deals in the weekly sale ads has greatly helped our large family of 9 stay within our $1100 a month budget for groceries and household items! However, this month we're trying something new and lowering our grocery budget to only $500 for the month. Today, we look at the weekly sales at 10 Box, Aldi, and Kroger. Sweet Janice you shouldn't feel bad, not at all!! Cause when you break it down the corned beef will be 1 less meal bought for the year!! And the other buys aren't gonna be eaten at once. Sadly I missed out on the butter last week and now the cheese. I was sick last week and have been dealing with low BP. Sooo Thursday a.m. I got up to potty and passed out again, this time the damage wasn't bad but not good. I hit my bottom and fractured my left side and hit my head so hard to make a hole in the wall. So here I am, poor pitiful me, lol!

Thanks so much for taking the time to create and share these videos with us! I live alone with two cats but I still get some of the grocery deals that you share. Just not as much of each item. For some reason Kroger gives me a free peanut butter coupon every month. I have no idea why. I don't eat peanut butter very often at all. I've been giving it away to the food bank and to an animal rescue. When you all were making and freeze drying your guacamole I wondered to myself why you didn't just freeze dry avocados and then make up your guacamole with freeze-dried avocados and the other ingredients for some reason I thought that might end up tasting better.

I think it’s a great idea to stock up on specials like the corned beef, even if it does put you over your proposed budget. Those kinds of sales don’t happen every week, or even every month, and having a year’s worth now sitting in your freezer is an amazing security for your family. I recently bought a bulk purchase of pig (which is not a very common thing to do in the UK) from a farmer and I love knowing that I now have sufficient pork for a long time, in a myriad of cuts. The quality is fantastic so I’m now looking to purchase other types of meat from farmers, rather than relying solely on the supermarkets as I have until now. These are strange times and food security is important, especially to a large family like yours. Shopping the way you do, rather than just being tempted to throw any old thing in your cart because you have no plan, is a great way to ensure that.

Glad you were able to grab that brisket! Meijer is a store here in the Great Lakes area; last week they had many items priced 7 for $7. I got two bags of the small avocados and mashed them up to freeze in one cup packages. It’s so handy

I think lowering your budget made room for the 'splurge'. I just stumbled upon ground beef marked down to $2/pound, so I definitely stocked up! Love my Kroger clearance stickers 😍

Thank you Janice!! I now sit down and compare the three grocery stores in my area. One store had corned beef for 1.69lb. As you taught me I went and bought 2 which was the limit. I'll be going back at least 3 times to buy 6 more which I'll freeze to last the year. Tomorrow's dinner is going to be corned beef dinner yummy!!!! Thank you for being such a great example!!!!

I mean if you want to fix going over budget you could deduct from Marchs budget but also it was still saving almost 500 bucks so job well done.
