We are currently in a new dark age when it comes to medical research and nutrition research. Study design is compromised, researchers have conflicts of interest, negative findings are not published, and results often don't match the conclusions.
Practicing doctors are then tasked with following Standard of Care that is based on the flawed research results which frustrates the doctor and exposes the patient to possible harm.

Emily Kaplan is an expert in strategy and communication. As the CEO and Co-founder of The Broken Science Initiative, she is building a platform to educate people on the systemic failings in science, education and health while offering an alternative approach based in probability theory. As the principal at The Kleio Group, Emily works with high profile companies, celebrities, entrepreneurs, politicians and scientists who face strategic communication challenges or find themselves in a crisis. Emily’s work as a business leader includes time spent working with large Arab conglomerates in the GCC region of the Middle East looking to partner with American interests. Emily developed Prime Fitness and Nutrition, a women’s health concept that focused on the fitness and diet needs of women as they age, with three physical locations. She was the host of the Empowered Health Podcast, and wrote a column in Boston Magazine by the same name, both of which focused on sex differences in medicine. Emily has two decades of experience as a journalist. She has written for national newspapers, magazines and produced for ABC News’ 20/20, Primetime and Good Morning America. She is the author of two business advice books published by HarperCollins Leadership. Emily studied Advanced Negotiation and Mediation at Harvard Law School. She has a Masters of Science from Northwestern University and received a BA in history and psychology from Smith College.

My dad was an Internist who ate the Mediterranean diet, lifted weights, and eventually developed Alzheimer's in his early 60's. Dead at 70. I learned from all of his mistakes and from amazing people like you. After being used as a pharmaceutical test dummy for most of my life, I'm currently a carnivore, take no meds, and I'm in the best shape of my adult life. Also writing a book about the corruption I saw growing up as a doctor's son. Pharmaceutical dinners, samples, both of his kids getting addicted to opiates, one dying, etc. Keep up the good work, everyone.

I was diagnosed with cancer in June '23. I watched so many videos about cancer and how people survived even stage 4. I knew I didn't want chemo or radiation but the surgeon was insistent that I see an oncologist. When I got the call for my appointment I had so much anxiety -oh my. I walked by the treatment center every day for 2 weeks and every day the anxiety got better until the appointment. When I finally went I heard what she had to say but she didn't want to do anything that I was wanting to try. She wanted standard of care. I started with fasting, then went to keto as best as I could, then I saw carnivore and embraced it.

As far as I'm concerned I am the healthiest I have EVER BEEN! No sugar, no carbs. I can eat all the meat to my heart's content.
I've added ioderal in the last 2 days. I do take some supplements that a doctor have advised me would be advantageous against this disease.

I have heard of others that have been diagnosed after me that are doing standard of care and they are sick and not doing well at all. I was given 17% chance of living 5 years. I believe that as long as I continue this diet and the good Lord willing I will live out my natural days.

When I told my cardiologist I’m on a keto diet and what that does to HDL, LDL and triglycerides. He rolled his eyes and said “I’m the doctor “ and take this statin. When I told him I didn’t want to he rolled his eyes and said we’re going to have trust issues. Guess what we already do. And there’s zero follow-up to see how I’m doing. Already found a new doc as part of an integrative medicine practice.

Part 2 yes!!

I once worked for a gastroenterologist typing out his consultation notes. Not once did he ever ask the patient about their diet or lifestyle.

I am now about 9 months keto/carnivore. No more brain fog. No more indigestion. Down 2 dress sizes. I feel better than I have for years.

I was in the hospital December 2023. Breakfast, I ate bacon and eggs- I left on the tray toast, jelly, grits, oj, peaches. Lunch, I ate some questionable meatloaf- I left instant mashed potatoes, roll, margarine, dessert and very mushy overcooked mixed veges. After I ate, nurse checked blood sugar and wanted to givee insulin which I refused. Dinner, I had my daughter being me a double cheeseburger no bun. The next day, I had scrambled egg at breakfast and had my daughter bring me meat for dinner. Ridiculous.

My dietician told me yesterday at my first visit, if I remove carbs from my diet "I will die". She works in my GP's practice. I had my first new patient visit with my GP two weeks ago, already talking about pharmaceuticals and the Pharm rep was in the lobby waiting to be seen. Ugh! So difficult to find a functional health doctor.

I no longer listen to or give any weight to any information from Harvard. Sadly, now I have ZERO F’s for anyone who earned a degree from Harvard! You’ll have to prove yourself first!
Thank you so much to both of you for this conversation!! So grateful you are willing to put yourself out there fighting for humanity, literally! You should be so proud of yourselves-I am!!💯🙏🏼❤️🇺🇸

My son was deployed overseas and was given rotten food to eat..no way to cook for himself..I sent him and his fellows canned food because that was all I could send; but it was better by far than rotten food..very sad that this is how our government treats our military..

I am a physician in Texas. Your statements are spot on. It’s been very frustrating trying to do the right thing for patients that are constantly being told otherwise!

I was diagnosed with diabetes...overweight, high blood pressure etc....was told by my doc it is a progressive disease and I should join WW and lose weight and I could manage but it would get worse over time. He harped on my weight so much. So I lost 100lbs...probably not in the healthiest way. I felt shame and guilt becausr I was sure I had done this to myself. Well I got to a normal weight and my diabetic numbers got worse, not better! Started Keto...and have to eat MORE than I ever have before...and now my numbers have been almost back to a non diabetic level

I woke up in the late 90’s. I thought I would never see the day when I could trust the advice of a conventionally trained and licensed medical professional. Now there seems to be a flicker of light almost visible at the end of the tunnel. I see how you positioned yourself to be able to care for your family if and when big business smacks you down. You must have seen what happened to other doctors who came forward to tell the truth. You are on my hero list because that’s exactly what you are.

I will remember dramatically how shocked my cousin was when he asked what blood pressure tablets I am on. I answered NONE IT blew him away. I owe my continued good health at 73 to your leading cheers

I saw Kelloggs promoting cereal for dinner. The high price of food today is alarming but eggs would be a much better choice.

My mother and I live in Canada, so we have access to our country's healthcare system that doesn't cost anything out of pocket. My mother had a frequent urination problem for 4 years. She would feel the need to go to the washroom 10 times a day. She would also lose sleep because she would frequently get up at night to pee. She didn't know why this was happening, so she went to her general doctor. Her general doctor couldn't figure it out. Two urologists she was sent to in order to get her tested couldn't figure it out either.

It was only until I happened to be learning about Type 2 diabetes that we figured out the problem. The symptoms of diabetes is frequent urination and thirst. My mother had pre-diabetes and had a sweet tooth. I convinced her to experiment and to cut out the sweets for a short period of time to see if it improved her condition. Her condition improved within two weeks and she is living a more comfortable life now because it's no longer a problem.

The fact that THREE medical professionals couldn't figure it out makes me so mad because this is a failure of the medical system. Her general doctor KNEW she was prediabetic, yet they didn't connect the dots. I, her son who has no medical training managed to figure out the problem and improved my mother's health.

That should not be the case. It should be the doctor's job to figure this out and help her, not mine. That's when I realized that either a lot of doctors are operating under outdated information from when they attended medical school, OR they just learn stuff and regurgitate it instead of actually THINKING about what they learned and applying it in their practice.

Her general doctor SHOULD have connected the dots, but they didn't because they don't think. They just regurgitate.

I've lost faith in the medical system because if these doctors don't think or question new research that comes out that either doesn't jive with the real world or is tainted with conflicts of interest, then the populous will be in trouble WITH their "help" rather than without.

This experience had taught me to always think and question anything and everything, especially current norms and status quos.

I was discharged from a doctor because I didn’t like his nurse treating me. She was in school and I was her test patient. I found a new doctor that actually listened to me.

People confuse pure science (Biology, Ecology, Chemistry) with scientific engineering (Big pharma, Big Food, Big sugar, Tobacco, opiates ...)

I am a Canadian lpn and I am watching my adorable husband die from brain cancer Glioblastoma! It is horrendous. For 20 years I tried to curb his sugar addiction but could do nothing and sometimes just gave up and joined in. He is in hospice care sadly and nearing the end of his life after 15 months and I am getting mine together!! Ketovore at the present time for now and I bring him my food and have the hospital Dietitian on board but truly it may buy time only. He still gets chocolate and donuts and french fries etc from my family and our friends. I am almost 58 no obvious damage other than a spare tire so far. I pray I can save myself!! I want to be a good nurse and work for another 20 years if possible. Any more advice and I will get your books and get labs etc oncebI am not a full time caregiver. Sadly soon a widow. I adore him so sad I could not have done more. I abhor Glioblastoma. Thank you.

How do I not become a conspiratorial nut when everywhere I turn there is corruption? I thought it was just in politics until I had to fix my own damn health issues. Now I realize the science & medical communities are full of crap (unless I need my appendix removed).

After having cancer over 10 years ago, not one word was said to me about diet, so I tried to look into it, there was so much conflicting information I gave up. I feel now I might just be able to get my system back on track, here's hoping .
