Best SUV Tires? Pirelli vs Bridgestone

Who buys a new car and then immediately buys new tires? My husband does! I ended up waiting 27,000 miles. There was still life left on the tires but they were making me so unhappy for all the reasons I mentioned in this video.

See why I replaced my Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season tires with the Bridgestone Alenza AS Ultra All Season tires! (Hint: noise)

I have Alenza’s on my 09 XC90 and I love them! Excellent wet traction!

If you live somewhere that has all 4 seasons, it's hard to beat the Michelin Cross Climate 2's. Only tire I've found that inspires confidence in all conditions. A little more road noise at higher speeds is the tradeoff.

Hi Fadra,

I'm looking to get new all seasons to replace the tires on my 2024 Mazda CX-5 GS in Canada. It's a Yokohama Geolandar G91A (225/65R17). Very loud and bumpy ride. I want a smooth and cushier, quieter ride. Do you think the Bridgestone Alenza Ultra would fix those issues?

Also, the treadwear and temp ratings are poor. I has poor light snow and rain performance...

tread wear cannot be compared from brand to brand. A 500 A A tire from brand X may wear faster than a 460 A A tire from Brand Y despite the '500' rating. Tread wear can only be compared to other tires from the same brand as it is a rating of wear from the (brand's) control tire. Even though Tire rack explains this, a lot of ppl still compare treadwear ratings. I look at the rated mileage warranty and the traction (AA, A, B) and the temperature (AA, A, B) ratings more than treadwear numbers.... Oh, I also look at price. Toyo, General, or Michelin for my current garage....

You did ZERO research. Calling one tire company you will get what they recommend from their products.

Great review! Had a 22 of the same car and regarding the road noise, it does not help that the car does not have acoustic glass, a big miss by Volvo IMHO.

Good choice 👍...My Jimny in India came with Bridgestone dueler AT .... performance is awesome.

Great review and comparison. For me, i think the mic picked up a. It too much ambient noise for me to hear the fulsomeness of the difference, but i can hear the edges of it. Looking forward to checking out some more of your content!

Thousands of reviews online complaining these tires got premature wear, not even close to mfg spec of "800".
So how are yours now how many kms on them ?

Also keep in mind OEM tire warranties are much more limited than the warranty you'll get in an aftermarket purchase from the same mfg and tire brand!

Tire Rack and Discount Tire both have better performing tires than those ultras. Like, Perelli Scorpion Weatheractive, Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3, Continental Cross Contact LX25, Michelin Cross Climate 2, Yokohama Geolander CV GO58 and even, Goodyear Assurance Weather Ready.

Alenza is actually a very popular OEM right now, it does have some issues… I would recommend the Pirelli AS 3 Plus or the Continental LX25.

OEM uses a softer compound so it’s a smoother ride. Yes smooth means you buy the car but it is going to get louder after 20K.

That’s because you are wearing them down. It’s not the same as the 70K Pirelli AS 3 Plus or 80K Michelin Defender you see on Tire Rack.

You really missed the chance to substantiate any claims. What's the starting tread depth, and what's the current? In my opinion, for 30k miles, those look fantastic. I'm assuming you're a very conservative driver. Also, you don't look at a treads design and think it can be better for traction. You do testing in labs, testing in the real world, compile the numbers, and continue the r&d process. If the manufacturer based a tire on looking gripier, we'd all be in trouble.

I have issue with same tire. All 4 tire beads are broke at 45000km when at 30000 there was not an issue. Just brutal

Any tire with 30k will be louder than even the same tire new!I change my tires every 30k, the rubber gets harder as the tire wears in most tires.

there's a little bit of a difference from the pirellis to the Bridgestone of road noise but with me being an over-the-road driver we did what we call tire siping and that would give the tire a little bit better ride of cutting through all junk

Did you say they are good for about 80, 000 miles???
