Darwin, Hitler, and the Holocaust Part 1 - A Faulty Foundation

From 1941 to 1945, Nazi Germany and its allies systematically murdered approximately six million Jews in a genocide known as the Holocaust. This was, at the time, around two-thirds of Europe’s Jewish population. Alongside the Jews, others who had been deemed ‘inferior’ suffered during the Nazi’s reign. This included the Roma, the Polish, people of Slavic descent, black people, the mentally ill, and the disabled. But why? To what end? In this three-part series, we’re going to look at the roots of the Holocaust from a scientific perspective as well as uncover the Darwinian undercurrent that allowed it all to take place.

The horrifying thing was that Germany at that time, was one of the most civilized nations in the entire world; With opera, ballet, music, composers, plays, film, science, medicine, and technology. That’s what’s really crazy. The thing is, it’s happening again today, within a civilized society.

Of course it was horrific what the Nazis did to the Jews. But it seems like it’s always being ignored that Hitler killed far more Christians and other non Jews than Jews.

My father was in the ghastly Battle of the Bulge for example. There died over 19, 000 people, amid a situation of extreme suffering. And most of those people were not Jews, and not uncommonly were Christians.

My father survived, but he came back from the war like a totally different person, and certainly not for the better.

I am with you on the connection between Hitler and Darwin, but I am 20 minutes in and I have not noticed a direction connection yet in Hitler's thinking by way of his speeches or writings.
