J Dilla's production is still mind blowing and unforgivingly brilliant to this day.

This is insane. Even with it all laid out i can barely comprehend if i could even come close to replicating it, nonetheless create something in a similar vain.

this man did this by ear in a hospital bed while he was chronically ill. he didn’t have any high quality waveform displays. he still managed to make masterpieces. he was inhuman in the best way possible.

Honestly a whole series on Dilla would be amazing, his sampling is unparalleled

There's a reason this man's SP is in the Smithsonian. He was a monster, and one of the best to do it.

He made something so experimental sound great.

the craziest thing about this is despite how randomly the samples seem to be placed it all lines up into SUCH a catchy beat

Straight fire Tracklib. I'm hoping we see a lot more Dilla content. RIP 😔

More Donuts samples please! J Dilla is the G.O.A.T Producer, everything he produced sounds beautiful.

How do you even sample 5 songs and make them sound so good? Dilla is an absolute genius

When you see it visualized you notice all the imperfections and variations to his loops.

Brilliant. Like a picasso of the mpc, it sounds so simple but the more you hear the more intricate it is.

The snare reverse was such a satisfying touch

J Dilla is so unique. So creative he latterly changed the sampling forever.
Donuts is one of the only instrumental albums i can listen to over and over again

Also important to remember Dilla didnt have the technology to speed up a sample without affecting the pitch. It was 2005, he found a way to do it manually! Crazy.

I have this 10cc album on vinyl! I didn't even know that's where Jay got the sample from then all of a sudden one day I played it and recognized it immediately and got all excited because I love this beat! haha 👍🏼

Love Donuts so classic, still bump this all the time.

Rest in beats JD!

What an absolute beast. The greatest to ever do it. May James rest in peace.

Some of Dilla’s stuff still sounds like a hip hop future that hasn’t been met yet. Way ahead of his time.

I love how normal breakdown videos have like 2-3 layers of sample cuts at max.

And then you see 7 layers and 17 different colors in Dilla's breakdowns.

This guy was different ❤️
