I wish joe would stop him and randomly say “did you see that video of that Moose getting hit by a car?”

This explains a lot. I've had crush over someone just for their looks and I've very gradually developed a crush over someone who I didn't even register as hot at first. They feel a lot different.

For me, "pretty" has more to do with physical attractiveness from the neck, up. "Hot" has more to do with physical attractiveness from the neck, down -- especially in regard to physical fitness. "Beauty, " on the other hand, at least for me, has to do with attractiveness outside the realm of physical attraction, with some crossover into the physical forms.

He has a very soothing voice. I want him to read Fight Club to me as a bedtime story.

A couple years ago my wife and I were at a family function(we are in our mid 30s with 3 little girls of our own). 2 of her distant cousins arrived who are both in their early 20s. 10lbs of makeup, fake lashes, fake nails, fake boobs, fake everything; but definitely a commanding presence in the restaurant. I can see it on my wife that she was flooded with insecurity in an instant. I reassured her that being a hot girl pales in comparison to being a beautiful woman. I think the perspective given in this video proved to be true in this instance because that statement visibly lifted her countenance.

Hotness causes erection and beauty causes love and affection.

....I’ve noticed my hubby says I’m “beautiful” when I have no makeup, hair in a bun and sweats on but says I’m “hot” whenever I wear makeup, my hair down and form fitting clothes....I’ve always noticed this, even when we were dating, but never given it much thought until now

I think the whole set of experiences you've had with a person can overshadow their physical beauty/hotness quite quickly. If we set aside extreme outliers on both ends, average or somewhat close to average people can turn into either extremely attractive or repelling partners based on just their behaviors.

You can hear this guy filtering every single sentence he utters holding to dear life in this outrage culture we live in... It is kind of sad to be honest

This is why The Joe Rogan Show is as popular as it is. The quality of this discussion is sooo far beyond what you can get on any TV show, it is laughable.

Hotness makes you hard, beauty makes you weak

I think hotness is superficial, while beauty goes deeper. I've seen women as well as men who were hot, but not terribly interesting or bright. They might be good to look at, but would you want to try to have a deep and meaningful conversation about the mysteries of the universe with them if they could never get past their looks or what others thought of them? Beauty, on the other hand, involves more than just the physical appearance. It's how they carry themselves, how they can conduct a conversation, whether they had a dark sense of humor, and their personal code of helping others. True beauty, when cultivated effectively, I think gets better with age. It's something I wish more young women could realize, because then they could stop shooting for the unattainable goals of perfection and instead focus on doing the best they can with what they were born with.
