This is the 2017 Fiat 124 Spider and it shares it chassis with the new Mazda MX-5. Whilst their underpinnings are the same, this Italian sports car differentiates itself with handsome looks and a 1.4 litre turbocharged engine of which produces 140hp and 240Nm of torque. 0-62mph take 7.5 seconds.

The Fiat 124 Spider offers a more refined drive than the Mazda, but is far from lazy when it comes to handling. It retains sharp steering and a strong driver connection. The added torque from the engine also makes it more flexible to use everyday.

Finished in Italia Blue this beautiful convertible is elegant. An easy to store roof and 130 litre boot also feature.

The 2017 Fiat 124 Spider costs from £19,545 and is on sale now.

Ive driven one, and blimey was it a beautiful experience.
With the legendary reliability of Mazda, with the Italian styling of Fiat.

I own this car, #34, and this is the truest review I’ve seen. I previously owned 2 Miatas, which I loved, but this car is so much better! To me it handles better and it is quieter than the Mazda. It is sexier also. Ive had no issues with it, runs fantastic. And, although I don’t own one yet, for those who want to add more power to the engine, you can purchase a ChipBox for it. I’m in love with this car, and have yet to see another one on the road-another thing I love.

Do not drive one of these cars! I didn't even want a new car, but after driving a new Spider, I couldn't stand not getting one. Fast forward 1800 miles. I still LOVE my Spider. I love the interior, the styling, the turbo, and the wonderful driving experience.

My only complaint with my 124 Spider is with FCA. If they were so "proud" of the 124 Spider, you would think they'd ADVERTISE the damn car! Most people have never seen one or know they exist.

It is a beautiful thing to behold. I have to admit this to myself when on occasion I spy one from my mint condition metalic grey MX5 mk3 with aftermarket wheels and sports exhaust, a car that I have driven daily for almost a year and a half and whos only fault has been to require a new headlight bulb.
A car, whilst not looking necessarily great from all angles, looks good enough from enough angles to facilitate the taking of a picture on my phone that can easily convince someone who doesnt know about these things that its a car costing twenty times what it did cost. A car that is so great to drive that I cant stay a day without driving it. The 124 is lovely no doubt about it but so is Cindy Crawford and she's married.
Love the one you're with.
Great review.

A few weeks ago, someone pulled out of a side road right in front the path of our '19 124 Lusso. I was proceeding somewhere at speed of 60-70km/H. I could see both left side doors of this Nissan SUV and I figured I'm t-boning him, no ifs, no ands, no buts. As my wife was screaming beside me, I jammed the brake pedal as fast as I could, I felt the nose of the car dive and I steered to the right and found an open space behind the vehicle as it traversed my path of travel. I just barely squeezed the nose of the little 124 into the open gap and I went by their left rear corner without any contact at all. I brought the car to stop at the side of the road and checked with my wife to see if she was OK. Again, I've never heard a shrill like that from her in the thirty years we've been married. I really thought we were going to be badly hurt and we came out of it unscathed. Now I've got many years of karting experience, but that goes way back over a decade, and my driver safety training with full sized cars goes back even further. So, I'm going to give the little Spider its due. It did it's job and performed admirably. Had it been another lumbering car, I'm sure we would have clipped that SUV.

Picking mine tomorrow, and don't think I will sleep tonight. Only bug bear is that in the UK you get 140bhp version, whereas in the US it's 160. I suppose it's the emissions police

I thought the blue Lusso is only available as a numbered limited edition (only 124 units per region).  I noticed this one does not have the aluminum numbered plate on the center cubby. Or was it removed?

Hi. Beautiful car. Hows the build quality? According to another review the lower dash is flimsy.

There's something toyish in the Mazda's design as opposed to the Fiat which looks like a car

Looks very nice on the outside. ...but the inside could be done much better.

It's nice, but I would rather have a Mazda engine, not a Fiat!
