Aston Martin has introduced its latest V12 flagship sports car, the Vanquish, marking a new chapter in driving excellence for modern enthusiasts.
The Vanquish made its debut during the Venice International Film Festival, with a dramatic unveiling on the Venetian Lagoon. This exclusive event attracted a select crowd from various sectors, including cinema, fashion, and business, held at the Marina Militare. The evening featured musical performances from Grammy-nominated Masego, Italian jazz artist Walter Ricci, and international DJ James Righton.
The guest list was a who's who of the film industry, including five Academy Award-winning actors. George Clooney, accompanied by his wife Amal, was joined by Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Douglas, Kevin Costner, and Adrien Brody. With Aston Martin celebrating six decades of association with James Bond films, Daniel Craig made an appearance alongside British actors Joe Alwyn and Micheal Ward.
The event also drew notable figures from entertainment, arts, and culture, such as Australian actor Joel Edgerton, American actresses Haley Bennett and Cailee Spaeny, and BAFTA-winning director Joe Wright. Fashion was well-represented, with three-time Academy Award-winning costume designer Sandy Powell and models Bianca Brandolini and Poppy Delevingne gracing the event.
The night began with a cocktail reception along the canal, where guests enjoyed famous film scores and traditional Venetian Bellinis. A three-course meal, curated by Chef Riccardo De Prà from the Michelin-starred Dolada restaurant, was served, featuring locally sourced ingredients from the Pieve d'Alpago region.
The venue, the historic Arsenale di Venezia, dating back to 1104, offered a fitting backdrop for Aston Martin's brand, blending history, craftsmanship, and art. Known as one of the earliest large-scale industrial sites, the Arsenale was pivotal in shipbuilding innovation during the Middle Ages, and it now serves as a cultural hub, hosting events like the Venice Biennale art exhibition.
The Vanquish, described as an automotive masterpiece, completes Aston Martin's new lineup of front-engine sports cars, capping off a period of intense development in the company’s 111-year history. Following the successful launches of the DB12 in May 2023 and the Vantage in February 2024, the Vanquish was revealed by Aston Martin Formula One drivers Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso, just a day after the Italian Grand Prix.
Lawrence Stroll, Executive Chairman of Aston Martin, highlighted the significance of the Vanquish launch, emphasizing its role in solidifying the brand’s ultra-luxury status and its appeal to a new generation of drivers. With a production cap of 1,000 units per year, the Vanquish will be Aston Martin’s highest-performance and most exclusive sports car, powered by a bespoke V12 engine developed in-house.
This marks the third generation of the Vanquish, a model with a rich history in both automotive and cinematic circles, including its role as James Bond’s car in "Die Another Day." The Vanquish nameplate, last used in 2018, returns to continue its legacy.
