FIRST LOOK: Aston Martin Vanquish – Ferrari 12Cilindri Or This?

The ‘Vanquish’ name is back at Aston Martin, and someone clearly decided that simply body-kitting a DB12 and winding up the turbo boost wasn’t enough. Good call.

The new Vanquish is a very different machine: with an extra 80mm in the wheelbase purely for beauty’s sake, an 835hp bi-turbo V12 rubbing Ferrari’s nose in it, and a new carbon-skinned body that – for once – looks noticeably different to other Aston Martins in the range. Heck, you’re paying north of £300,000 for one of these. That’s the sort of bespoke treatment you expect.

Top Gear Magazine’s Ollie Kew is here to walk you round the exterior details, interior features and then ask the big question: on first impression, has Aston built a better V12 super-GT than the Italians?

Which are you choosing: Ferrari 12Cilindri or this?

I feel like the front does not fit the rest of the car. The new back end and side profile are much more aggressive, yet the front looks nearly identical to the other models in astons line up

what I love about Aston Martin is that a lot of their designs still look somewhat classic without crazy cyber-punk flavors... and FINALLY the interior that looks like it's from this decade :D

That's what Aston Martin is all about!! Love to see them still producing cars like this.

In a world of dismal SUV’s and EV’s with the all the character of a fridge, I love that this car exists. 👍🏻

Ian Callum came up with the modern Aston Martin design language. That was the pinnacle of car design. Every subsequent Aston Martin designer is basically tweaking his perfect design. All Aston's look good because they are derivations of Ian Callum's design however they can't really improve on his work.

Never mind the power - look at that paint job! They're not just coming for Ferrari's lunch, they're taking the whole fridge!

The most badass non-hyper Aston since the Vantage of the 70s/80s.

MY GOD Aston's gonna dominate with this one, fully ICE V12 and such a classic look, not too modern not too old. Simply Perfection.

Aston: tries to avoid making the high end model looking like the standard ones
Also Aston: copy pastes the vantage’s front onto a vanquish

Man this thing looks like a concept car!

Hints of the Zagatos, without simply copying. Nice

It definitely reminds me of a Basking Shark feeding from the frontend...That massive grille with the over hanging bumper/bonnet treatment 👍👍👍

They need to take that rear 3/4 shot of this car and redesign the front around that same language because its gorgeous from that angle, and while I'll never be a fan of modern interiors that steering wheel and panel is miles better than what Ferrari are doing.

Give me a carbon fiber roof for more head room and a lower center of gravity than a glorified window though.

Love the rear. Not so sure about the front half. Seems strangely lacking in tension and tautness

Why is the front grill so enormous? It looks like that one BMW meme where the grill becomes progressively bigger until the entire car is a grill

Not that a peasant like me would have a chance at owning one, but my ideal Aston Martin would be the recent Valor with rear end of this Vanquish.

Better looking than the Lamborghini Terminario

Love TopGear !! Still keeps the nostalgia of high quality production of car reviews unlike some comedic car reviews these days
