Fistula's are the WORST. They don't just occur on the outside; they may also create a tract between the rectum and cervix. This can lead to the presence of fecal matter in the vagina, cervix, or uterus, and can lead to very serious infections.

There can also be multiple fistula's at once with concurrent infections, impaction, or other complications.

I've watched a surgery where a patient had three vaginal fistula's, two fistula connecting the vagina/cervix and rectum, plus two more independent fistula branching off the anus. They were a result of Crohn's disease being misdiagnosed.

When I got the "infection" I had no idea what it was. All I knew was there was something going on between my butt cheeks and what ever it was was GROWING to the point where I could NOT SIT DOWN!
I went to out patient and got an old time Doc who told me he was going to put a hole in my butt cheek as I had a massive infection in" there"
I freaked! He said " Don't worry. It will be a relief" That was the old fashioned way of dealing with a fistula and many years of recovery. Treatment by me!

I had 4 major operation to solve this issue.. 24 years ago the wound was packed with antibiotics and change daily . It was the worse pain ever, even after 48 hours of labour
