Rock Band guitars SUCK!!!

I don't know why, but I've had garbage luck with Rock Band guitars. My drums and microphones have held up great, but guitars are always having some sort of issues. Have any of you had similar experiences?

Maybe the reason why Harmonix won't fix your Rockband 2 guitar is because the controller is for a game that came out probably 12 years ago.

I see a lot of people hating on the RockBand guitars but I’ve had 0 problems with the ones I’ve collected over the years. Harmonix, in my opinion and experience, have produced great and more authentic looking/feeling guitars over the years. I was a bit skeptical making the switch to using RockBand guitars since I’ve used the Xplorer and Gibson Les Paul for most of my life, but now that I have I can’t go back. Sure I’ve had to take time to adjust to the different strum feeling/no strum sound and slightly wider frets but I would have to adjust if I came from RB to GH guitars if it were on the other hand regardless. I guess it just comes down to taste. I love playing standing up, jumping, moving my body and jamming out as if I were on stage as opposed to sitting down stiff as a stick and have had no problems playing or FCing songs on any game, same as with the Xplorer guitar. For me, the switch to RB from GH guitars was for better aesthetic and nicer looking instruments, more authentic feeling instruments, and quieter gameplay (no fret or strum sounds which greatly help put you into the atmosphere of the game). Everyone has their reasons but those are mine. I’d love to hear what you guys use and why as everyone is different and have different tastes.

Rock Band 4 just came out last year, why would they make a new game? They did exactly what you said, made a new game and made the old songs work on it. I wouldn't expect Rock Band 5 anytime soon. They are currently working on Rock Band VR though.

I always used my Explorer Guitar for easier gameplay. It’s wired to make tilt or overdrive/star power easier, the buttons are a little loose to make fast fretting simpler, and it can strum fast notes more easily with the little loose strum bar can make it work, and stays connected forever. It makes scoring much easier with it. No joke. Will always use it on a regular basis, no matter what. Tried a Rock Band 4 Guitar before for Rock Band 4, but I had many issues with it. My hand couldn’t figure out the frets, the strum bar is too tight to hit notes, that just made it confusing for me, and I’m never playing Rock Band 4 again. I stick to playing Lego Rock Band, or Rock Band 2 all the time.

2:31 Wireless Guitar Hero guitars have detachable necks, not Rock Band ones.

3:16 You can shim the neck in order to keep the neck from wobbling. I have the Jaguar for the Xbox One and it's not that drastic on mine.

The little knob is called the pickup Switch. On a real guitar it switches which pickup it is turned on.

Myself and others have learned that the rubber on that Guitar Hero 5 controller melts. Everything is a sticky mess now.

My RB2 Strat from 2008 still works pretty much flawlessly with Guitar Hero World Tour on PC, and I used that thing for years of consistent Expert play across the whole GH/RB catalogue on XBox. It was my drum controllers that consistently failed, I had the RB2 and GHWT kits and those pads just aren't made for long-term play unless you're careful.

Sadly I never got back into music games until recently so any chance of playing RB4 easily with all my XBox DLC and exports is slim. I see Jaguars go for $150 used on the low end, and the legacy adapter starting at $300. It's sad that Microsoft can't be bothered to tend to a legacy hardware issue that literally prevents a game from being playable unless you have hundreds of dollars. They could very likely release an official adapter for maybe $40, or outsource it to a company that still exists.

I bought a few dud Strats online because they're usually cheaper (my Taylor Swift GH5 Wiitar was a lucky find as well, I use it with the Raphnet for GHWTDE) and with Strum Fix Plus from ByteArts they're excellent if you like the smoother fret buttons of RB controllers. The replacement is super quick and easy if you're careful not to strip any screws.

for a computer repair channel these guitars could use your expertise.. Rock Band 4 guitar has firmware. Rock Band 2 guitar can be taken apart pretty easily and cleaned with ease. I did these and I have three beauty guitars now and its 2021!

I love how you’re like cmon harmonix, make a new game already……. It’s been 5 fckin years since then jesus and that’s just for when rivals released. So sad to see this genre fading away. I’m just glad I still have 2 guitars one of the original ones and I just recently got a Jaguar for only $150 shipped to me so I’ll keep these forever as long as they don’t make another game
