👏👏👏👏👏 I don't know how you and your beautiful mind pulled this one off but that's the paradigm shift I needed! I hung out with friends last night who ripped the bong, munched out, and told stories that all started with "we got stoned and..." all night long (just like my stories used to). I felt like a buzzkill at first but it was really important for me to see how vacuous and toxic my life used to look from an outside perspective. This vid articulates those feelings perfectly from both sides now that I'm able to see them. I hope this resonates with everyone who sees it like it did with me as it's not something I've ever seen talked about besides Alan Carr touching on it. That makes total sense to think of the identity aspect as at least partially a product of advertising and the media portayal of archetypes! Ps. 1 week no nic today and 2 weeks no THC tomorrow and the rest of my life to go! Cheers!

Yesss 💯 on all of this. We have all been sucked into the marketing and identified ourselves accordingly. It's huge to become aware of this in order to get the issue out of our lives for good. Once we see it we can't unsee 👍❤

Glad for this video too, Im still off weed, now im getting close to my second month. Sometimes I feel it pointless because so many things are changing in my life... often I cannot recognize myself anymore. But everytime im close to the bottom I feel that Its still better without it. Id love to hear more about the development of the new personality, that Im (or we who quitting our addictions) growing into. It would be nice to have some soothing thoughts :) <3 Thanks Dr Frank anyway, many of your videos help me on my way!

I think it’s not just advertisements and vice industries that glamorize mind altering substances. Society in general glamorizes drugs like weed, alcohol, coffee. Many people may be able to use them without huge issues. But a highly sensitive person or someone with addictive tendencies has to do things differently and can’t follow the masses.

I think diet also plays a role. Most people eat like crap and so prob use substances to offset that and feel better. There’s a reason there’s a stereotype of going vegan and sober at same time, because healthy eating helps you feel better without self medicating.

Not sure about the identity issue. I’ve struggled with sobriety from weed for quite a while and doesn’t have to do with my identity. Moreso has to do with wanting to self medicate from unremitting stressors. But just have to keep getting back on track if slip up
