I hated this book. It was so slow and the characters were not very easy to sympathize with. It was also easy to predict the ending and a few of my classmates were actually happy with the ending.

I loved this review and I loved this book! I was also lent this book by a best friend... called Sarah! I'm glad you liked it, I loved it too. We discussed it at my Book Club recently and I think everyone there was blown away by how much there is to discuss in this (relatively short) book - it's so underrated and I'd recommend to anyone! I'm reading this novel from The Norton Anthology for my final tomrrow. It is a beautiful story even though I don't like Edna too much but I sympathize with her.

I read this book in high school because I took Advanced Placement English. My feminist woman english teacher was always very encouraging. I had her as an english teacher for three years in high school. As far as the book goes it was good. i had to take lots of notes on the book. It was my first book i had to read at the begginning of the advanced placement english course so we took it slow, which means i did well, but the other books we read were hard to keep up with.

great video! I read this book at the recommendation of Leena as a good book after a break-up and I was disappointed. Edna is choosing to self-destruct herself after the awakening, instead of constructing her life in a new manner that will set her free. It is books like these that make men and women hate the word 'feminist' as it causes families to break, children to be abandoned ...   I am a feminist myself and I do believe that women should do as their hearth wants but I don't want to see them self-destruct. I guess we can say that Edna didn't have the tools or knowledge to continue with her new style of life and this is why she was considering suicide but I would have loved to see her fight and be happy.
