I love how biologically, pregnant women and their babies are meant to be pretty dang durable, and people are out there freaking out about the dangers of thongs.

Fun fact - in Australia, thongs are a certain kind of footwear

I'm wondering how many of these started as preferences that people changed into rules. "I couldn't wear that when pregnant, I would avoid it" turned into "it's a danger to wear that, avoid it!"

My husband asked the dr if I could still go to the shooting range, without skipping a beat she said “oh of course! Especially if mamas body is growing she’s gotta practice holding it around her belly. Just don’t forget protection for baby. Make sure you put earplugs on her belly too.” He thought she was serious. I had no words.

I got told I couldn’t take hot baths by all the women in my family. Asked my OBGYN and was looked at like I had 3 heads. 😂 she told me “your body knows what temperature to keep the inside” as long as I can handle the hot water, the baby can handle it

Edit: some of y’all have taken “hot bath” as ‘the hottest water you can possible imagine” and that’s not how it works. Here’s a trick, if you’re getting too hot in the bath… run cold water 😱 magic I know

I read somewhere that you couldn’t take a bath when you’re pregnant. First time mom, I believed it. I called all local hospitals asking them if that was true. The way most of the nurses responded ( in hindsight, rightfully so ), you’d have thought I asked them if grass was green lol.. but the thong thing is funny. Not gonna lie.

I love how you speak and everything it’s just so easy to understand and remember and relate with you. I hate how much information I was denied being a teenage girl in Texas in the early 2000s. The most we got taught of our periods in school was maybe our athletic coach advising us to keep running, or exercising through the pain of cramps because it helps. That is literally the only piece of information I can remember learning from anyone. I had a mother and an older sister. Both to the most amazing women I’ve ever known, but both I’m comfortable with the topic and I’m just thankful that at a young age I said no screw that if it happens to every woman why are we uncomfortable about it.

My first period was when I was 12 years old, may 31, 2006 to be exact lol and thank God it was the last day of school at the end of the day when I got my period in my shorts because I thought this was my life for the rest of my life. I didn’t know it ended. I didn’t know it only lasted a few days, every month. I didn’t know anything. I remember getting one of my older sisters tampons in the bathroom and thinking it just conveniently stuck in between your vagina on the outside of your body. Lol. I remember using wash cloths or socks as pads, and the last day of that period i was watching TV alone in the living room and my mom walking by leaning down asking me “did you get your period?” so quietly so my dad and brothers wouldn’t over here that their 12 year old sister got a period and I shook my head yes and she continued walkway. I didn’t get talked to, any information about anything.
Once I became old enough and aware enough, I wanted to absorb and learn as much as I could about my body and the way it works because it’s amazing absolutely amazing!! I think of how much embarrassment and torture and confusion I could’ve avoided having someone with the approach you do that it’s not a big deal because it’s not that it’s not something negative, I wish I would’ve had someone like that or at all to teach me anything.
I wish my mother would’ve had access or someone like you would have made a point to teach mothers how to talk to their daughters about it. I remember going into target with a dish cloth in my panties not being able to get the courage to whisper to my mom that I needed pads. My sister being so blunt saying she needed tampons, but I couldn’t do it. She always says she feels bad that she didn’t just put some in there knowing that I was 12 and going to get it soon but she’s a wonderful mother she just didn’t know.

Hearing you talk, I just keep on and keep on thinking that wow this woman would make the biggest difference in so many girls lives if she were to speak to girls at schools. Or even mothers for that matter! Or health teachers at school, so they know what to actually teach. We are denied that information and some of our mothers are just not comfortable with it and when our sisters are two years older than us, they are mean teenage girls that are not educated that much their selves. I remember or health teacher being an unmarried very negative woman that didn’t know anything about it or she did and found it uncomfortable, so it was maybe one day spent on the female reproductive system. You though are young and beautiful and funny and cool, they would listen to you and eat up every word you had to say. I’m not telling you you should I’m just saying you have a wonderful style of teaching, and I would have absolutely cherished it if I had access to your teachings when I was 12 years old, thinking that the rest of my life was going to be bleeding cramping and putting tampons in between my vagina lips 😂😂
Thank you for listening to my rant I think you are a gift to the world and to every woman in this world that cares about their reproductive health.🩷🙏

I think what they might have been trying / wanting to say is, they may feel less comfortable in them now. When I got pregnant with my first son. I didn’t feel comfortable in them at all. Also constipation played a role in that. As well is just not finding some that would stretch and grow as I was growing.

I love how she doesn't even want to state her credentials to state the obvious. Like fr who comes up with this 😂
