You forgot to mention the important figure Sun Yat-Sen, a famous figure famously known as the founding father of modern China, he proposed the three principles of the people, an idea that both Mao and Chiang respected. He is the famous figure that both Mao and Chiang looked up to. Also, he's the famous figure who inspired the Qing new army to rebel at Wuchan and kick-start the Xinhai Revolution (the revolution that helped overthrow China's last imperial dynasty). Also, you forgot to mention the May 4th movement, a movement that occurred in China, when most Chinese people realized that the Treaty of Versailles granted Japan's right to take the German possession of Shangdong, and the same movement that led to the birth of the Chinese Communist Party.

Mao hid in the mountains while the Nationalists and America saved the Chinese from Japan!

Mao radicalized and showed up after the war was over to fight the Nationalists.

Tbh, Chinese were never truely communist by heart. They just merely adopted it as Soviets were nearby to help them. Once, west were disolved from the region and the soviets too lost their charm, communist chinese just revolted back to their Imperial Chinese system.

Late Qing Reform began from 1901 to 1911 with the 1911 revolution commenced at that time which means it(Late QinG reformed) failed.
